That is half the fun. I remember when I first past my test just thinking where does that road go? I found lots of lanes round the Trough of Bowland where I had never been, then got more adventurous and started exploring the lakes. Hardknott and Wrynose passes are a great experience and teach you a lot about control.

If totally lost, I would look for signs to places I knew such as Preston, Garstang, etc. and then find a new way home.

07-05-13, 08:34 AM
Yep, get up to the lakes or there are many many excellent roads in the Dales to explore. I tend to try to do both when I have the time :-).

You can always get home by aiming for the M6. If you have a smartphone, there are some free apps with OS mapping in them - easy to see where you are and pick a new direction.

Oh dear! I'm surprised she hasn't had a wedding proposal yet!

Don't worry, they are all as immature in real life, but the fact that they are tripping over themselves will come in handy one day when something is up with the bike :)

Congratulations on passing the test!

hello banana man from across the pond

:smt039 Pleasure to meet you!

Deffinately try to meet up with the local .org'ers in your area when you're ready for a rideout.
I'm sure you'll find everyone is really ace and most helpful even if you're not a GP rider.

I'd say unhinged from reality more like. I wonder how it would go if you walked up to a bird and asked "hey, now before we get started are you single?" Followed by "is that a steady relationship or am I whizzing into the wind?"

That's nothing. The first time I went on a motorway on my own was down to Southampton from Morecambe - 270 miles. It's just boring.

Do it! :)
