So I've finished work I get out of the car park and the bike stops. No warning. All electrics work apart from the starter button.

Kill switch? If not can you try a bump?

Not the kill switch. Tried a bump but no luck.

Did it make any noises when it stopped?

All battery connections still on and snug?

A favourite for this the clutch switch connector coming adrift. Not the only reason it can happen, but easily checked.

Did you check for petrol?

Do you have an adjustable clutch lever?
May sound strange, but I have short levers, and if my clutch adjuster is set on 1 or 2 it won't engage the clutch switch and the bike won't start (because of the slight dog leg shape I believe).

Take out the fuel pump fuse press the starter and put it in again.
(check the fuse too)

I had something strange a month ago on mine - exactly like you describe - that resolved it.

What is the procedure for bumping a V Twin? I did try when my battery went flat last week but it seemed it would take a lot to kick it over. Jumped it in the end.

Well turns out it was just a fuse like I suspected. And the tools to get the seat off were conveniently place under the seat... Thanks previous owner.
