Hi,

Well ive had a right nightmare tonight, offered to pick my friend up from work(a very good looking girl) well as i got there i kicked the side stand out and thinking that it was fully open i have leant the bike over only to find out that it wasnt and BANG! down she goes! As you can tell she just let out a huge laugh:(

So yeah a few scratches, a damaged ego and the most important part.... i snapped the toe part of my shift lever!

Where could i get a replacement one of these from?

How easy are they to fit?

Cheers
Mason

Suzuki dealers sell Suzuki parts.

Doh! Sorry... in this case, Suzuki dealer might be a good option.

But I would email Wemoto anyway....they sometimes can get not listed parts.

If its just the actual toe bit and not a chunk of the actual lever missing, a good temp fix is to drill out the lever and whack an appropriate size bolt in with two nuts to lock in place. Can't remember the recommended bolt size but have a little search in here and it should come up!

No its literally just snapped the toe bit off... ive taped it back on for safe keeping on the commute to work this morning. Could i drill it and put a nut on bolt through it while leaving the lever on the bike or does it have to be removed?

That's good then, that would be entirely up to you and how good a drill you have and how good you are with it! If you think you can do it in situ without hacking it up go for it, if there is any doubt I would say take it off first

Is it quite an easy job to remove the whole assembly them?

Would this be the correct part? As if it is will try bodge it up for a week or 2 and order this?

yep thats the jobby, and at that price prob a lot cheaper than from suzuki direct for an original part.

Yes rung Suzuki this morning £46 posted.... or wait a few weeks and pay £16? I know what i will be doing!

Ordered! Hopefully shouldnt be too much of a pain fitting.... Just watched a video on youtube looks like a pretty straight forward 1 man jobby!

yeah the main thing is making sure to mark the spindle thingy with the position of the lever pinch clamp

Are you talked about the 2 bits circled in green?

PyroUK
16-05-13, 11:05 AM
those are important, for replace of the lever but the bit i meant was the thing that is at the 7o'clock position to the left hand green circle.

i'll take a pic of the bit i mean when i go outside in a few.

That doesnt need to come off though to change it does it?

PyroUK

May just be my weird way if thinking, but figured that easier to undo the one bolt there that will go back on easily rather than faff with the threads on the other bit

Very true, is that how you removed yours? does that save spinning the link rod out? Take it you just marked it up with tippex

PyroUK

yeah, couldnt think of the name but the link rod bit seemed a bit fidly. i just undid the other one, as it was my mates bike i just scraped a line in the end as it was covered in so much crap so no permanent marking.

Link rod nut at the brake pedal end is a reverse turn to loosen it btw eg. To loosen it you turn it as if your tightening it.

So the part has finally arrived from a far distance country looks the part just want to confirm to remove and fit this do i just remove the circled items in the picture?

You shouldn't need to take the whole rear set off. Unscrew the foot peg and the rod from the pedal end the pedal should just slide off then.

What you mean by unscrew the footpeg? i thought it was all one unit?

daveyrach

There is a bolt behind:

Part 5 and 6 on the above drawing, save you having to take the complete unit off.

What bolt is it? doesnt look like a normal bolt

daveyrach
29-05-13, 03:13 PM
I think it's a Hex head bolt, I can't check on my bike as I have custom rearsets, I am going from memory.

mase_tw

So like just a normal 14mm spanner etc would do the jobbie?

jambo

Take the whole rear set off, access is just pointlessly fiddly otherwise.

There's a fairly heavy bolt that goes through the footpeg from the back, 8mm Allen head on it from memory. It should be on fairly tight, and threadlocked. I'd recommend putting the footpeg in a vice if you can :)

Edit: Part 6 on the diagram.

I meant allen head bolt.

Can anyone give me a list of tools needed then ? Would be much appreciated

6mm Allen
8mm Allen
10mm open ended spanner (ideally 2)

Ideally a vice, some grease & thread-lock.

Of course I'm no where near a bike as I write this :-)
