Been thinking about getting one recently, but wouldn't even know where to start!
Been keeping a eye on this site and seen some absolute beauties come through!
Even some "too good to be true", cheap ones:

There are some nice bikes on there. A couple of Norton's have caught my eye, after all my tool kit came with an imperial side that never gets used...
Fair takes you back.

I know it may not be 'classic' however I am hopefully picking up a Honda CD200 to have as a project, get running, strip down, rebuild & maybe turn into a little cafe racer.
Well that's the plan

I've got a 1960 350 Matchless loitering in the back of the garage which, one day, I'm going to get out and get going. Judging by the prices I've just seen on that site it might be worth doing sooner than I thought!
A mate of mine has just got himself a TDR 250 frame with a log book and he is now busy building himself a bike with all my spares. I can see why now given the price of that RD350 on there! Not sure the FZR is entitled to be there yet though.....
LC's go for silly money .
I Guess the YPVS be next.
Not long to wait for the FZR .
No X7's...

I have two GSX1100's. A '79 ET and a '84 EFE. Classic enough for me :-)
This is nice!!

Not sure why you'd pay 4 grand more than you could buy a brand new Fireblade on it but each to their own
I'm just building this, just like the look. Its 30 year old. Most of the stuff off it was sold to help finance a cheap project. Needs exhausts and paint, and a few minor bits but nearly done and its another twin!

Love old bikes. The engines just look so much better than modern bikes. The fadda has a Velocette Venom 500 and I've got a '72 (I think) T500 that's waiting to be built. Now if only I had the time and facilities.

I've got a 1981 Honda CB900F that I just put back on the road.
Honda policy is to keep parts for everything they make in stock for 20 years. Way better than anyone else!
Even so, parts are getting hard (sometimes impossible) to find for my 32 year old Honda. That makes them more expensive when you do find them.
My bike was well cared for, stored properly, and ridden except for the last 9 years, but I still just spent more on it than it's worth- except to me.

Love it! Come to central North Carolina, please, I'd love to get a ride on it.

Its a cafe racer inspired thing, theres loads on the net and a simple conversion.
I bought it as a non running R100RS (30K miles!) in late Jan (simple fix, Hall sensor in ignition can £35) it hadn't turned a wheel in 7 years. Sold off the fairing, exhaust silencers, seat and a plethora of bits and bobs on e bay.
Stripped to the frame, simple design, very easy. Frames been powdercoated along with wheels. Fit new subframe and seat and bars built a new batterybox and number plate holder, braided lines. Moved ignition, lots of cleaning and a bit of polishing and its where it's at now. Cost in total when complete est. 2K.
Trick is obtaining a good donor bike at the right money, they are thin on the ground.
This is how it started off. Upsets the BMW purists, but I'm riding it, not them!

All done in my garage with handtools etc other than some aluminium welding off a mate and the powdercoating services. To be fair to BMW only one bolt needed heat on it to remove it, but it is rather agricultural in design, therin lies the charm!
All the pics I have are here:-

Theres some SV pics on there somewhere too.:)

Thanks, be easier for you to come here! It's built to be ridden, see no point in having a gleaming showpiece stood there. ;)

Yes it would, but we have all these great roads in north central NC, and western Virginia, and eastern Tennessee... I was hoping you were really rich and could just fly over and have it shipped.
I've ridden a variety of airhead BMWs, none as old as yours, and certainly none that look as much fun!
None of them are as much industrial farm equipment as Moto Guzzis. (But they're fun too).
Here's the 99.9% finished article with MOT now...
Sorry just mobile phone shots..

Nice work, youve done well , its easy to get carried away and end up spending shedloads. It all depends on what type of previous owners the bikes had , theres plenty of people out there wholl bodge everything and if youre the type who wants everything correct youll spend plenty of time sorting out their bodges.

How about something a little older:
