Right I shall try & paint the picture for you.

In Salisbury there are a few large roundabouts which are traffic light controlled both on the exits/entrances & on sections of the roundabout.

I was sitting waiting to come onto the roundabout ready to take the first exit, which has it's own designated lane. About 50-60 yards down the way is another set of traffic lights which are for pedestrians.

Once my light went green I set off, the next set of traffic lights were also green so I kept accelerating to 30mph. When I was 30 yards away a woman and child walked out across the road in front of me, about 3 paces behind was some bloke, who with the slightest of glances to his left just walked out.

He didn't stop, so by this time I was 10 yards away and doing 25-27mph and I knew that I wouldn't be able to get the bike stopped in time, I was shouting at the top of my voice and had the horn pressed but it had no use.

We collided and he hit the front right fairing, the mirror and his hip caught the brake lever which caused the front end the start a wobble, then my shoulder went into him.

Luckily I didn't grab a handful of brake, I steadied the bike, got it stopped and pulled up by the curb.

I got off the bike & I was seriously hacked off :smt076 , he wasn't hurt and seemed absolutely fine.

The moment got the better of me & I gave him a few choice words, I know it probably wasn't the best way to react but if I had hurt him, or ridden off then it would be me in the shiz!

AND as per the title when I said 'why didn't you look when you -bleep- crossed!' His reply was 'Oh sorry I didn't see you'

Fortunately lots of people saw it, and a couple of people came over to me to ask if I was ok & if the bike was alright. They both said that they had seen the whole thing and that the guy just didn't look when he walked out.

Thankfully no damage to the bike, me or that plonker! Just a bit shaken up.

So I had a 5 minute breather then rode home nice and gently, what annoyed me most was I had a cracking ride planned to go on this morning but I felt it was best to go home and just chill out.

I will defiantly say that the two advanced riding courses I have done so far this year really did help me, my reactions & control of the bike. I would really recommend the Castle Combe rider performance day!

Anyway sorry for the ubber long post, I just needed to get it off my chest!
Ride safe :)

What a tool! You can see why people in cars don't concentrate being wrapped up in their cage, but on foot you're just a meat bag ready to get splattered. It's much easier to assess the road too, as it's easier to hear and look around. What a spanner!

Glad everything work out ok. Could've been much worse.

If it had been 0.5 of a second later I would have hit him square on.

As you say, it could have been worse.

Well done on keeping the bike and yourself the right way up. I always try to scan the bods on ped crossings to keep an eye out for the most likely lemming with brain plugged into their mobile, just incase.

You did well not to panic and grab a handful of front brake - as much as anything else, dropping the bike would have possibly broken his legs as it slid along.
And even though it didn't work in this instance, good use of the horn too - always worth doing, even if all it does is make people look and therefore get you some witnesses. Lots of people panic and forget to use it in an accident/near miss.
Advanced training is def worth it - all about anticipating what other people could do and working out your best response, as with this.
Glad it worked out OK - another one to put down to experience!

I feel your pain but at least your okay. I had a similar incident where a lady walked out in front of me 20 metres after a pedestrian crossing of which I hit her (pedestrian crossing was green for traffic). She didn't look either but unfortunately she was hurt and went to hospital so now I am worried insurance etc. Feel sorry for them but Angry because she didn't look.

pedestrians are thick as S***. walking out between traffic etc.

Blimey Kiggles, I hope nothing comes of it.

I just can't believe how stupid some people are, I mean how much effort does it take to move your head and use your eyes & ears!
