On my way back from the gym there is nice road that has left bend and then it does down and at the bottom there is normal speed camera. Today there was a police van parked by the camera and catching those coming to fast.
I may have been doing 36-40mph but because the bike have no number plate at the front, should I be expecting the letter in next week or so?
Cheers

Always throwing a spanner in the works!!!
Most vans in Derbyshire have a camera on the side to catch bikes rear plates now. Can't imagine why other areas wouldn't.
I wouldnt make a habit of it, its been known for the police to find you from distinctive bikes/jackets/helmets etc if you push it too much or do it too often.

I wouldn't worry about camera. But I would be more concerned about posting your bad doing's on a public forum, but its fine because you were doing 36-40mph in a 50 zone right.......;)

But the OP and his profile don`t mention where he lives, where the gym is, what the road was, what his bike is, what his bike reg is, what time it was, what country he lives in

Technically, if it was serious enough (not 5-10mph over the limit) they could ask the forum to disclose the IP address(es) used by this individual, and then ask the ISP for the address associated with that IP address.
Realistically that wouldn't happen, unless in very extreme cases.
Was going to say ip but you beat me to it!

Just be glad it was a van and not the Batmobile.
I'm sure you would have been caught on Bat-Cam.
I'll get me coat.

Bat-Kam,
Yes they can catch you, they may only have the forward facing speed camera but the vans are CCTV equipped. If the scamera decides its worth a prosecution then you may find them reviewing the cctv footage and time stamp to match your plate to the offence.
The only ways I can think of where this would be impossible to enforce would be: If there were a group all riding varied speeds, you were overtaking a car/other traffic.

rember that guy who got done for doing 120mph on a test ride and boosted about it on a forum. Although admittiedly extreme case. just saying.
I boast about how slow I ride on my way home. get over taken by loads of cars. Then at the end of a long motorway a bottle neck point appears where I over take every car filtering. Life in the slow lane is just as fast as in the fast but leaving more petrol in the tank. Allowing me to spend more money on doughnuts during the week

Even speed cameras need servicing you know, even if it's just to clean the lens......
Very unlikely a mobile unit would setup next to a fixed one, more likely they were just parked there to save them having to walk very far.
