Mine dropped into the inbox this morning, so did the obligatory checking around a few comparison sites to see whether I'm being fingered or not.
Holy sh*t - what's happened out there?!
The best I can find online is well over double what I've been paying for the last 4 years since I bought the bike.
Bonkers - absolutely bonkers!

Doesn't make sense, due to these equality laws bought in the average males insurance has decreased where as ladies insurance has gone up. I know mine dropped by over £100 when I renewed in February.

What so none of your circumstances have changed and the cheapest you can find is double your renewal?
Something not right there. How much are we talking if you don't mind me asking?

I always find my bike insurance very reasonable. My best quote for renewal this month was £82 fully comp for a 150bhp litre sportsbike. Unfortunately I can't apply no-claims to two bikes so the cheapest quote on the other bike was £190. Still I get both insured for £272 so I don't think that's too bad. It's about the same as I pay every year and less than I pay for either car.
what prices are you talking.? I got fully comp. no ncb only had licence for two weeks. £116

But you are 53 and live in Fort Knox ;)
I beg you pardon!! Nah only 26. do have 8 years ncb on a car that I was asked about when taking the insurance. Also would hardly call it fort knox but it is kept In a council garage.

SV650, new rider, no NCB, fully comp, 26 - £116!
Sure it wasn't breakdown insurance they sold you?
Similar circumstances when I was 30, 7 years ago cost over £500.
You made me go double check my cover note there. It's definetly bike insurance. pheww!

Count yourself lucky, my car & bike premiums have gone up big time after I had a crash that wasn't my fault, no loss of no claims or anything, all paid and settled from the other parties insurance, but still, mine have gone up!
Before my crash I could have gotten a VTR Firestorm and insured it fully comp for about £250 a year. Now, cant even get a quote for under £600 on a VTR -_- I'm 21, been riding 4 years now and got all my no claims!
I don't need a girlfriend anymore because my insurance ****s me every day!!!

Maybe i'm just lucky. The next cheapest quote was ~£220. My mates got a zx-6r on FC and only pays about £200 including breakdown cover. but he's been riding for a few years now.
My excess is £500 + £300 voluntary tho.

I paid just shy of £300 for TPFT for the first year, my cheapest quote so far for renewal is £270 FC with 2 years NC and a £400 excess.
£800 Excess - Woah!
Even more of an incentive NOT to bin it. :D

Blade + SV, 5 years NCB, almost 33, bikes garages overnight in one of the UK's lowest crime areas.
Renewal aside (which was £400 ish, with a whopping £800 XS - wtf?!), the best quote I can find elsewhere is £700+ for the Blade alone.
That's nearly double what I paid when I first bought it 4 years ago.

My only thought is statistics have changed mate. Maybe a few more thefts locally you don't know of, maybe more crashes, etc.
Maybe time to just go TPFT? My Gixxer is TPFT. My thought process is if I have a small off the price to get it fixed will likely be less than the impact of premiums, excess and loss of NCB and subsequent higher premiums. If I have a big off and smash the bike to pieces, chances are I won't give a monkies about the bike as I'll be preoccupied with physiotherapy for the next 4 years.
