So, there I am riding home all OK until I pull up at some lights and the FI light comes on..

Accelerate away with revs limited to 5,000 rpm. Grr.
Pull over about a mile up the road and switch the engine off, then on again. Light goes off and the engine is fine. Accelerate away into top and cruise at 6,000 rpm. Fine.

Then...

...FI light comes on.
revs remain at 6,000 and I can go up and down the rev range as much as I like
cruise up the m'way for about 15 miles like this.
pull off m'way and go into a roundabout.....

...lack of engine braking...

next roundabout

...lack of engine braking...

pull up at home
...tick over is at 4,000 rpm.

Switch off engine, switch it back on...All OK.

WTF?

Dodgy STV servo/sensor?

Check fault codes...

Do I get that with the use of a 'Dealer Tool' aka paper clip?

Not showing a bloody fault now!
I have left the 'Dealer Tool' in and hope to be able to catch it should it turn up again.

Interestingly though the TPS is out and is showing the line at the bottom, so that will need adjusting when I get 5 minutes and a security Torx bit
