Been a while since I've posted ride pics so thought I'd share some views of the Appalachian Mountains.
Sorry for the pic quality. All were taken on my Galaxy Nexus which came with a decent camera before my phone company sent me a mandatory 'upgrade' that turned the camera to s***.
My old 3-g phone took better pics! Barstewards!!!
But I digress.
Bank holiday here this past weekend so headed to the mountains for a few days.

very picturesque Bill and the bikes looking good as well, got a couple of brothers over there just now doing the "American Dream" thing, touring yellowstone today on a couple of electraglides.

Wow, really nice shots Bill. Some of them could be straight out of A Walk In The Woods by Bill Bryson.
But moving on to the roads there look to be some cracking meandering roads, we get some here in Wales and such but usually they are hiding wet sections of roads with leaves on and some sneaky conditions for a lot of the year. Looks a lot more enjoyable over there (and to think, not long back that was covered in snow too, it just gets hotter to dry out better I guess)
Nice post!

I think you may have just stumbled upon the meaning of (modern) life. To live long enough to earn enough to do the things you want to do before it is too late. (all of this is a "problem" created by civilisation though)
always great to see the sv out and about.. its been a while since I've seen roads that dry and clean :)

Bill, you're a lucky man.
Everyone can look at "the other side" and think that the grass is greener, but those photos make me believe in the phrase.
Thanks for the pics, I'm on my way...

Thanks everyone!
Certainly not a typical veiw of the US, but one of the more beautiful places.
(and a great place to ride)

Thanks!!
Humidity comes and goes here. At 0%, especially if the wind is blowing , things dry up really fast.
This area got several inches of rain less than a week before these pics were taken.

I have no clue as to why anyone would want to ride a too loud, too slow, poor handling, unreliable motorcycle just because they are in the US.

Don't be too jealous.
Having ridden there as well I can tell you, if I could retire and move somewhere to ride motorcyles, all things considered, my pic would be Wales.
(still waiting to win the lottery)
There are some really good roads here, but they few, unlike the nearly all good roads that can be found in many different areas of the UK, such as Brecons.

Yes there really are people here that stupid.
As fate would have it, these 'fine gentlemen' (in keeping the u rating) live about 12 miles from me.
However to be honest these are not the sort of blokes I'd care to consort with or buy liquor from if indeed they really are moonshiners.
If they are, it's only on the very lowest of levels.
It's legal to own a still and produce so many gallons per year for personal use, and look good for the camera.
Todays real moonshiners are high tech and so are the police that catch them.
Bill, you're a lucky man.

I can assure you the grass is indeed greener on the other side.
Because I feel the same about pics of the UK!
Come on over!
Very nice, and very green - it must rain a lot!!
I've ridden this area several times a year for the past 14 years and this was the time I didn't get rained on.
I'm almost dissapointed now if part of the trip isn't in the wet. LOL
me jealous.. never :---)

Let me make it even better for you then. ;)
This area was/is setteled almost entirely by the Scottish and is home to a huge yearly Highland Games celebration.

Was trying to figure out the exact area of The Apalachians this was so that last link helped. Drove through the northern Apalachians last year through New Hampshire and Vermont and (obviously!) looks very similar. The hairpin in one of the pics looks very similar to one on the Kancamagus Highway in NH. Would have been a nice drive but got stuck behind a very slow moving group of traffic!

All of western North Carolina is motorcycle paradise.
Eastern Tenennese as well but the Police there have been known to unfairly ticket motorcycles on occassion.
