Slowly going around the bend here...
I've bought a Zephyr front end to go on my old z750E project bike. Online wisdom claims that you can fit the front end straight in but I can't find a top bearing to fit. It's a taper roller bearing which needs to be 25mm internal diameter and 48mm external diameter.
It seems this doesn't exist! I have a 32005 which is 25mm ID and 47mm OD but obviously this will not do as it slops around.
I've measured the existing bearing cup that came out (somewhat knackered) and it is definitely 48mm external diameter. Doesn't matter how many times I measure it or the hole it came out of it's still 48 bl**dy mm.
Can I really have stumbled across something so odd that it doesn't exist anywhere I can find? Has someone messed with the thing and machined up something special?
Any answers would be appreciated. Maybe I could get an insert machined up to take a smaller top bearing.
Help.
Drowning, not waving.
