Went out last sunday and made this vid. Big old epic review about my experience over the last 6000 miles with my Tiger. Quite long for a casual watch but if you're interested in the bike it could be worth a watcharoo. :)

21K,just starting to loosen off,let the good times roll. Throttle, try taking up the play a little and increase the tickover by 1-200 revs, just above 1100. With full luggage fitted my problem in handling is side winds.Snatch on the chain, mine did 45k before I changed the sprockets, chain and cush drive rubbers and even then it was not 100% knackered but to be honest I think it is more a trait of Triumph gearboxes than chain.

55K on the old Sprint now and I still can't find a bike better for my style of riding and comfort,as you say 500 mile days are effortless, example Scotland from Essex with one fuel stop and fag break.

Bloody hell one stop from essex to scotland sounds bliss!

One fuel stop is good going! I prefer more regular fag breaks than that though. :D

I have loads of advice from Tiger owners about sorting the throttle. Things like loading custom tunes etc. Truth is I can live with it so I probably will. I don't really like fiddling with stock settings unless its a real problem and I'm loving the bike so its all good!

New chain should come tomorrow and its the DID upgraded kit, so hopefully that'll give it some decent life too. :)

What sort of price would be fair for one similar to yours, think I could go for one of those!

I paid £4600 for mine from a dealer, so you must be able to get one for £4k. They won't be much cheaper though as mine is as old as they get. In fact 56 plate ones seem rare.

I'll keep me eye out for one. Is there a decent Triumph forum to have a look at?

I disagree about your comparrison with the st (or gt I think you mentioned), I've ridden both back to back, the tiger seemed noticeably slower, especially top end, the sprint kept pulling and pulling, the tiger seemed to start peaking about 20-30mph earlier, but in fairness that could've been gearing as the sprint only has about 10 bhp more.

I went to triumph with intention of buying a tiger when I got my sprint but didn't gel with it on a day long, 230 mile test ride, the sprint felt 'me' after a few miles, so bought that.
I didn't find the throttle at all a problem so could need setting up again as its done a few miles.

They are seriously good bikes though, with the right rider I personally feel they'd be a match for a lot of sports bikes in the twisties.

Not a bad review though, top work :)

Ive had Sprint and Tiger 1050's exit a roundabout onto a dual carriageway together and both riders nail it.

I was on the Sprint maybe 50yds behind and easily caught and passed the Tiger.

Same again on return journey when I was on the Tiger, Sprint sailed past on a motorway slip road and I was on full chat on the Tiger.

Maybe aerodynamics, maybe gearing, but the Sprints are definitely quicker.

I wasn't really referring to speed gents. I was talking about how it feels within the package. Perhaps its my lack of baffle, perhaps its the upright riding position which means your body moves more, perhaps its the suspension travel? Whatever it is, the experience is amplified in the Tiger and I felt like the engine had more character in the Tiger than the GT. The ST on the other hand, who knows? Never ridden one. I think the GT is a bit of an ugly sister to the ST. :)

The ST is definitely faster though, but GT vs Tiger, for me? Tiger has spades more personality. :)

I agree, biggest design feature was the 3 underseat cans and they went and put a huge ugly thing on the side.
