I know it's a pointy but mine comes on at about 100-105(not exactly sure) Same as Tomor said above :)

I can also report my pointy k3 kicks in at 103c. It'd be interesting to get some reports from some curvy owners.

The radiator fan comes on when the switch in the radiator gets up to temperature and closes the circuit.

The sensor that drives the temperature readout on the dash (pointy) or the warning light (curvy) is located in the thermostat housing between the 2 cylinders. Because of this there will be variance between the temperatures you see displayed when the fan kicks in. Typical values have been given already but anywhere from 100-107 or so would be quite normal.

my record temperature (K8 ) was 104C and the fan still did not start - I guess it still OK, right?

I have a 1999 Curvy, mine has never ever ever come on, I've had the bike 2 1/2 years. Not even had warning light.

Dave, If its never come on in 2 1/2 years i would suggest you do a test on the thermostat, i don't have my haynes manual here at home but if you have one there is a description of how to test it in there.
You dont want the motor overheating for long periods of time.

Hmm, mine comes on fairly regularly when riding in London traffic. Must be great not to have that issue!

Pricey I'm with you.

Mine has never kicked in but that's primarily because it's never exceeded 100C...I suppose nakeds run cooler.

Would be good to know if it actually works though.

As other have said, there is a test procedure in the Haynes manual somewhere. I should probably get round to doing it at some point I suppose (if I can be bothered  )

Mine is a naked and has run up to fan temp, but this was not under riding conditions this was in a garage on a stand after fitting the new rad.
