I am looking at a couple of options for a solo seat cowl for my k3, idea number 1 is to buy a second hand one and have it painted to match the bike, or . . . order a brand new cowl and infills from a dealership. But can anyone who may have gone down either route help me with weighing up the cost of either option?
Thanks

I have a black k5 with a seat cowl which i dont use, tried to google a picture there but cant find one but i can take a pic when im from work, would consider selling it if you wanted it. It doesnt have infills so you would need to pic them up seperatly

That would be great if you dont mind, im not that fussed about the infills to be honest as I kinda like the look of the grab rail. Is it in decent condition and roughly how much would you be looking for to part with it? Feel free to pm me if you prefer :)
Thanks

Im not really sure what they are going for, its in great nick just needs a wash which ill do if you want it, will post a pic here, i dont know what its worth if im honest but throw a number at me and we can go from there, if you have a double bubble screen spare (never know) could possibly trade? But thats ideally whay im aiming for :)
I have a blue one from my old bike and my mate who works in a body shop said he would do it at cost which would be about £20 for my paint. It's black with blue-ish flecks, so if the above doesn't happen you are looking at £20 plus labour.

I paid £50 for mine with infills when I bought my bike. Think that was quite a keen price though.

Well they seem to be around the 50 mark on ebay for a decent condition one with infills and 40ish without, so I am happy to offer either of you around that figure for just the cowl. Scott is your cowl a jet black gloss as my bike is black with the blue tint base and if im honest I would prefer it to match but of course price negotiations could be factored into it?
Pyro how much would he want roughly for labour cost as that is the black with blue tint on my bike?
Ive been hunting one of these for months and now im spoilt for choice. . . Like busses haha
Thanks

It should say your colour code in your owners manual if you have it?

Yeah same as mine. As I've not seen yours though and if you want to be sure the colour code YAY should be in the owners book on the right hand page after opening it off the top of my head.
Lol sorry mate, I wasn't offering his services, his boss would kill us! It was to give you an idea if you had to get it done locally.
As it is he is waiting for his boss to take a holiday so he can sneak mine in lol

Unfortunately I dont have it as im the 3rd owner and its pretty much the only thing that the bloke who sold it me didn't have for the bike which is why I can't be 100%. Its definately got a blue tint to it though when you look deep into the paint so if this is the same as yours im pretty confident it's going to be the same paint code.

Ahh okay, there are a couple of body shops local to me but im by no means on a first name basis with any of them so cant imagine it would be as cheap as your getting yours done for. In that case I will have to decline your offer as I want as close match as possible, as the bike will be spending most of its time with it on as my mrs won't pillion anymore so going for a more solo setup.
Thanks

And if the guy who's hopefully buying my bike for some reason doesn't want the cowl you can have mine for £50 plus p&p, but I'd imagine he will want it.

Just home from work its plain gloss black and ive never really looked at it into depth but its actually a fibreglass cover mounted ontp a standard rear seat :o it has a few marks where the grab rail has scuffed it, dont know why, it was on when i bought. It has a race hump aswell, its nothing special and its basically jista rear aeat with a race hump

Red why are you selling your bike? I imagine he would want the cowl too but if not yer I'll probably have it.
Just for my own curiosity and possibly any others I will try and get hold of suzuki tomorow and see how much they would want for a new solo cowl with infills, if they even still make them. . .

I wasn't really looking to sell but a lad has seen my bike and really wants it and has offered a fair price for mine. Seen another bike I like as well so figured it would be a good time for a change. But if it all falls through it won't be the end of the road.

That's a fair enough reason red, have you got your eye on a particular bike?
Right I've spoken to a suzuki dealership and they can get a brand new cowl and infills for £95 plus postage so not exactly cheap but it will depend on what a bodyshop quote to do a spray job on a second hand cowl. Personally as I do not know anyone in the paint industry I can't see there being much difference in it after the cost of a second hand cowl, paint, labour, postage ect have all been totalled up...
Craig
all UK pointy black SV's are pearl nebular black, they come up on evilbay all the time.
