I had it on my 125 bibs, doesn't effect the light output at all really... If it does it isn't noticeable

Read up on it its totally legal due to its honeycomb design, it dosnt restrict any light at all its good stuff
LewSpeight
04-07-13, 10:35 PM
Is it purely legal because it's got holes in it!?

I've got it on my pointy front head lights, it's fine at night and looks proper smart with a black DB screen :D although I do have HID's which does help at night obviously.

What's people's thoughts on putting blue ones on a set of twin dominators and the legality of it?
Tommo1988
06-07-13, 04:53 PM
Its 100 % legal on any headlight bud. States it on the flyeye website.
although I do have HID's which does help at night obviously.
They so very obviously don't on an SV - the reflector shape is totally incompatible with HID units and the headlight beam is all over the place. You're simply throwing huge quantities of light out, but it's not directed to anywhere in particular.
Your aftermarket HID units are technically illegal, for a very good reason.
I can't think for the life of me why anyone would want to put that awful chavvy crap on their headlights, it's utterly tasteless in the extreme. Will you be fitting neons behind the fairing panels and pink tassles off the handlebar ends as well?
I ride a bike because I don't want to be associated with wa*ker car drivers, so I certainly don't want to dress my bike up to look like a sh!tty old 1994 1.2 Corsa that's owned by a colourblind chav.
Looks pretty subtle in black, might bung some on my black curvy...hmmmm.
Sorry Lozzo :P

Right ordered some from amazon, came yesterday, looks good but know instructions or anything else for that matter. But plenty of it. Is there a special technique to fitting it. If any 1 wants some I will be glad to send some on.
JohnStMartin
14-07-13, 08:24 AM
Instruction on page 5 of this topic.
You just cut it slightly bigger , smooth it on with a bank card gently , make sure there are no air bubbles , then use a sharp knife to cut it close to the edge. then use the edge of a bank card to tuck the edges in then blast a hair drier over the whole lot to seal it.
Bikes away for MOT so i'll let you know what they have to say about it.

Purely just for aesthetics Stu, nothing else :)
Fair enough, but surely it just dims down your headlight? Or doesnt it really have an effect when they are on
JohnStMartin
14-07-13, 03:15 PM
I dont notice the difference in the brightness. Its just an asthetic thing for me.
Surely it also helps protect the headlamp surface? Like, a tiny bit?
LewSpeight
14-07-13, 03:46 PM
Nope. No dimming of light that I've noticed..
And mauler, not even a tiny bit ;) there's lots and lots of holes in it.. So I doubt it'll do much protection.
That's what YC was onabout getting all the fly guts from it, cos there's loads of tiny little holes for the brains of the fly's to fill...

Actually, I think this man, like lots of us, speak from a perspective where we've been through the 'let's pimp/trick up my bike' stage many moons ago.
