View Full Version : Securing your bike on a ferry
I've only been on a few.
In Newcastle - I got ratchet straps, in Hull - a piece of rope...
The Greeks, however have a completely different approach

LOL! Are they ashamed of bikes? "It's not really there, tis all a figment of your imagination..." :)
nice soft landing if it falls over, well done to the Greeks. they probably thought 'that looks expensive, lets protect it'.

I'm just thinking about the hot exhaust and the not so for resistant bags...
Edit: good thing it has an underseat exhaust.
Did I spy a bit of rope to the red water pipe ?
Always did think that Triumphs attract baggage... ;)
Do they always try and secure bikes on the ferry? As I'm going to the Isle of Wight next month, first time on the ferry with the bike.

Wouldn't worry, you're only going a couple of miles. Take a bungy cord for around the front brake level if you're worried, just stops it moving. I used to do the Irish sea crossing. We used our jackets to pad against the side of the ship and load of rope + bungies for that crossing.

White link you park diagonaly.
If your unlucky to get a bad day your stay with the bike.
The only rock the ferry gets is as they mour up.
