Suspension: Low cost upgrade?

Recently acquired a very tidy bog standard pointy and need to make a few mods to firm her up.

First job is to find a (very) cost effective way of sorting out the soggy front end. I'm reluctant to put a GSXR front end on her just in case I end up doing a few minitwin outings on her.

Money is tight so I'm looking for ideas that will provide a cheap way of sorting out the front end.

I'll probably do the rear shock at the same time if cash allows. I was thinking of putting a GSXR or ZX10 rear shock on instead of the standard one. Will either of these bolt straight on? Which (if any) would be most suitable. [ I weigh 10st 8lbs ]

Great post JulesW I thinking exactly the same, im same weight to so if someone knws something about the rear shocks i think we'd both be greatfull

Yes to this.
Proper rate springs and emulators will make the front end excellent. I'm just under 12 stone with gear, and the rear worked pretty well for me as it was for quite a few years. The cheap Penske I put on is better, but not the night/day result I got in the front with springs and emulators.

On the shock a ZX10 should bolt straight in if it's from a 2007 Kawasaki (you need a 55mm bolt and nut from Kawasaki), don't know if it's a bit to heavily sprung for you though - there is a fantastic spreadsheet list of rear shocks that I can't find atm (hopefully someone will link it!) but I'm not sure how many of them bolt in without any cutting.
