May be going to london for a gig in october, and even though im in Reading ive barely ventured into Londons nightlife. Other than Soho which i hear is very good, what main areas should i consider if im going for a bit of a tour around a few good solid bars? Not too fussy if they are a little pricier than the standard ones as its not everyday i do something like this/can afford it. Cheers org!

Whoever told you that Soho was good is a lying face toe-rag. Nothing really happens there after midnight unless you fancy your chances in one of the gay bars. Even the pubs are soul-less ****holes kept afloat mostly by far too many stag / hen nights.

Camden is a favourite spot for me. After that its Shoreditch, Bricklane, Old Street and Hoxton Square.

Aha ok cheers Mike. I thought Camden would be good aswell but also worth asking the locals! Er well both i guess. Just some decent places, not super edgy full of idiots, but somewhere worth a visit.

Shoreditch is good. Bit sleazy, bit lively, lots of variety, old school, trendy bars and loads of restaurants.
Different from the West End as its still developing.

Camden and Brick lane are fine.
SoHo is a bit odd.....

I thought that was why we went to Soho every Friday. We do after all go to one of the gayest coffee shops in London!
