So folks what will you be doing this time on Friday 29th of August next year?

A : I'll be sitting in the house bored wishing I'd made the effort to go GM2014!
B : I'll be riding my bike up to the Kinlochleven Loop for GM2014!
C : I'll already be drinking with the rest of the orgers in the Bothy Bar at the MacDonald Hotel on the Kinlochleven Loop!

That song becomes so annoying after 20 seconds. Even with the distractions I had to turn it off.

GM. A year to plan. Hmmm...

GM. A year to plan. Hmmm...

A year to panic more like :-)

The MacDonald Hotel (http://www.macdonaldhotel.co.uk/) is the base for the weekend and we are the only people that can book anything that weekend until the end of February (if you are enthusiastic say your booking for the SV650 forum event)

Coming Bibs?

this depends on holiday time. if i can get two then yes, if i can only get 1 then no.

as much as i love everyone to bits and enjoy your company my jollys are relax time for me. so if it's a choice of doing 4 days up north or a weekend with the boys/girls then the 4 days up north wins.

all the above depends on my mum and how she is. if mum gets ill then i'm stuffed and my biking is over as i will not subject my wife to restbite.

if i can get two jollys then i'm there and knowing the date i might just swing it :-)

Since D is already taken, I'll have to go with...

E : I'll be at work hoping I get off bang on 7.30 on Saturday morning so I don't miss the start of the rideout. Same as GMV then and that worked out just fine.

Hey folks, page 45 of Octobers BIKE magazine. We could and probably will have that view (well without the GS coming the other way)

So Dean!!

Have you booked all your services and tyre changes yet? ;)

carelesschucca
18-09-13, 09:10 PM
No, not yet but with the biking year of 2014 that's planned already I'm gonna need them. Can see it being a three rear tyres type of year. Even looking into a topbox for the street, oh the horror!!!

Trying my best to make the GM as enjoyable as I can for everyone... So far we have decent accommodation nice drinks on tap (cheap too) and some great roads to ride...

from Carter Bar if you don't do it in 4.5hrs then give up biking as you are a pusssssssy.

i'll let you off with 6hrs if it's not your first time in Scotland as you will be sight seeing.

DJ123
17-10-13, 09:02 PM
i'd be heading up that from the Glasgow direction. I wouldn't be aiming for more than 6 hours (depending on stops).
London to Glasgow is done in 4 hours fairly easy

andrewsmith
17-10-13, 09:04 PM
Glasgow to Kinlocleven is a litle bit different.

A82 is crap.
Best going across to Callendar and up

Bibio
17-10-13, 09:32 PM
hey daddy if you are going gives a shout and i'll do a route for you.

if you go up the M74/M8 then onto the Erskine bridge its only about 6 miles of 40 then once past Balloch you just keep a good eye out for the plod. once your past Tarbet your home and dry but still keep an eye out for the plod. once you get near and on the Glen Coe road keep a vigulent eye out for the plod.

most of the time the plod like to make themselves been seen so if you don't spot them your not paying attention. also look out for folks flashing headlights (plod warning).

The loose plan is to tie the GM in with a Scottish trip. Still 10 months to go yet so no firm decisions yet!

andrewsmith
17-10-13, 09:50 PM
Go East coast up and come down the west to the GM

So i'm guessing it starts on the Friday and finishes on the Sunday?

Yes Friday is the getting there day, I'll hopefully be early so I can play on the Loop for a wee while. It'll also be the meet up for refreshments in The Bothy Bar Day (I'd recommend the Trade Winds myself)

Saturday will be the main run it'll be just over the 200 mile mark (split into two loops so people can bail out, and play on the Loop)
Then there will no doubt be more refreshments in The Bothy Bar.

Sunday is a free day so people can do as they want... There is talk of people going up to Applecross on the Sunday but that is still to be confirmed (Combatfred will probably take charge of that :-) )

As for getting there the A82 isn't the most interesting road but it does improve once you get past Tarbet. I much prefer the A84 & A85. But there are so many options it just depends on how far you want to ride.

Or go to Dalwinnie across to Spean Bridge and come down the A82

The Scottish adventure may start with the GM or end with it! So i'll either start from the East and work my round up to the North, then back down the West or vice-a-versa.

Shhhhhh...

Don't tell anyone, cos this doesn't go out to the masses proper until tomorrow, but if anyone fancies a little preview of next year's GM venue (and surrounding roads) - this may well be of interest:

"This week, how about exploring Glencoe and the Highlands, with a stay at the MacDonald Hotel & Cabins, Kinlochleven (http://www.motogoloco.com/macdonald-hotel-ac-47-a-81#), including:

2 nights accommodation
2 course dinner (both nights)
Breakfast (both nights)
Unlimited laps of 'the Loop'

All for just £80pp - (price based on two people sharing)
