Afternoon all,

I'm after a bit of advice really, I'm looking for a full time job at the moment and as of this morning had 2 interviews booked, one today and one Thursday. Interview today for job 1 went well and they offered me the job this afternoon. The problem is job 2 pays more, has better opportunities and better hours but the interview is Thursday and obviously no guarantee of getting it so I don't want to turn down the offer from job 1. I really have no idea how it works from here.. I'd much prefer job 2 but i don't want to lose both trying to get the better one if you know what I mean.. All advice gratefully received :D

Hope it all makes sense.. Cheers

verbally accept offer 1 & string out signing the contract until interview 2 (say did not receive paper work etc)...
then if you get offered interview 2 accept and say sorry to offer 1 something has come up and you now can't accept :)

it's a dog eat dog world out there, take care of number 1 buddy.
these places would not have any problem getting rid of you in a heartbeat.

You say thankyou very much to the first one, Get them to give you details/ start date/ contract in the post,

Go to interview to, if they offer it, accept and then write back to job one saying on further consideration i have on this occasion decided to accept another job offer, but thankyou for your time,

In those sort of words,

tell job 1 you cant start till monday then if you get job2 then take job 2 and tell job 1 you had a better offer.

well done on getting a new job :-)

just don't burn any bridges, you might have to go back to them later.... be diplomatic ;)

Cheers for the advice guys, asked for the offer in writing on paper to buy me some time while I go to the other interview and I'll play it from there.

Tell job 1 that you're interested, but you're going to another interview for a company that ****es all over theirs, and you'd rather have that one, but if that goes t1ts up you'd take their offer, no matter how crap it is, because it's better than nothing.

They'll appreciate your honesty .... maybe. :D :p
