This is what remains of my sprocket after taking it off.
Can anybody beat a more worn out sprocket?

I cant see how the bike still manged to move. :smt103

Surely the chain would have just slipped around it rendering the bike stationary?

Nope. I managed to get to YC's about 20 miles away before removing it at his house..
Have no clue how or why, but yeh!

That is some serious wear, I cant beat that.

YC almost said the same about my tyres.
I'm one for pushing my limits of 'getting the most of out of my stuff' and 'illegal'. :smt050

Haven't a clue Lance. It came with it when I bought the bike. It lasted me about 2 months of riding everyday to leeds and back..

False economy. You've royally sh@gged the chain and hence front sprocket by wearing it out this far... and potentially set yourself up for an insurance assessor to rule the bike unroadworthy and hence uninsured, if you'd had an accident... and really got up the nose of a copper should he have stopped you and deems this "neglect"and uses it to give you a ticket on something else on the bike...

Just not worth it.

I think it's fair to say the chain was beyond any salvaging by changing sprockets* way before Lew ever got hold of the bike.

*I've never worn out a rear sprocket before the chain, when using good quality steel ones.

not true, the liability to other road users remains in force regardless, they may reduce the value of a payout of the vehicle if it was apparently "neglected" for "wear and tear" but it would not invalidate the liability to others element of the insurance.

Neglected... you should have seen the paint job it did have BEFORE some chav sprayed it orange...

I think Si wins tbh,
Have you seen his bike, how it's still running I don't know.

cos he's got me on speeddial. He still manages to break it regularly, then again it must be up to 100k by now.
