I'm curious, I do this less frequently than I should. I did this yesterday. I would suggest putting the lining in a pillow case and putting it in the washing machine if it has no breakable parts as I did mine in the sink. Which works great, but you have to see the colour of the water...

When I think of it.

The colour of the water is something to see.

Can be washed while still fitted using soap and water and rinsing out, it just takes longer to dry than when it's all out. Soaking up as much water as possible with an old towel helps.

Paraphrasing: *Fancy chemical stuff in a bottle*
I'm unsure that that actually removes the road dirt and sweat as much as makes it smell nice again...

suppose you have to get rid of the hair tint and spray some how.

me, i like the smell of me which is not quite pee yet and when i do start to small of pee i'll think about washing my bike gear.

I did back flush My Aria with the shower to get the pesky bugs out the vents.so once in 4 years(But I dont use it much)
I do wash my head (notice head as not allot of fluff left) after work so the HJC and Shark are OK.

I do the cheek pads quite frequently as they get covered in make up.

About once a 6 months, but have got two set of liners that fix mine so it no issue!

Jambo, I know water rationing is happening in London but once a year, is that to hide the smell of the Tube? ;)

What happens if your helmet doesn't have a removable liner? Should we just stick the whole helmet in the washing machine?

Nope, have a bath with it on

Absolutely, I hear that a patina finish is a big thing nowadays. :---)

I take mine out and wash it every so often (ooo err) and the colour of the water after wards is nasssty even though I hardly wear the lid (for weekends and non commuting rides) **To add I do wash frequently... Once a month is frequently right?

Never been washed but doesn't smell. I'd not put up with a smelly helmet.

As for my Arai tour x3, never washed that either but it's up for replacing this year anyway

I wear a sock on my head and wash that instead

Mine is self cleaning. :) At least, I'm pretty sure it is. When there's enough mucus and sweat it appears to drip out by itself.

Fallout is the actual reason it is suggested people never share lids...
