View Full Version : Best air filter for 2001 curvy?
Thinking about changing the air filter on my new to me bike as I'm not sure if the one fitted is the original item. Am I better off with a pattern part for about £12, a genuine one for about £25 or a K&N reusable for around £45. I read somewhere that the K&N requires a jet change in the carbs and I don't really want to be messing with those. Looking for reliability, good starting and smooth low speed running rather than hoping for performance upgrades as I find the standard power more than enough for my riding style.
I have a K&N recharge kit from my last bike which probably has a couple of uses left in it.
All advice greatly received.

Best one is a BMC Race RS Filter doubt you will be able to get one now though.
I know they were about £90 a couple of years ago
Just done a search on the forum and it would appear that the standard filter seems to provide the best economy and performance so will look for one if these. Thanks.

if you keep the bike another 10,000 miles buy a stock filter , if longer the k&n is the better buy moneywise. unless you are racing in a competition sports, the filter will gain you very little power. dont get caught in the hype, the only thing you will notice is your wallet will be lighter
Fitted a genuine suzuki filter and the bike does feel better. I do not have an owners manul with this bike but found an online scanned copy which mentioned an air filter drain point below the airbox which should be periodically emptied. I looked all round for this but couldn't locate it.
Anyone any ideas if there is one fitted to the k1 curvy?

Don't worry about it, doesn't do a lot.
