Right here goes. Sure some folks on here will know of the top of there head. My next door neighbour wants to start riding bikes. She is 27. What's the path she needs to take. Can she ride a 125 without any tests or will she need first part. Does she need to do a theory first. Any help apreciated.

I suggesst she approach a local riding school, do a CBT with the intention of doing her DAS if she enjoys the CBT.

Obviously she need to do her theory test in between

After her cbt can she then use a 125. And what is DAS

DAS is Direct access (skips the A2, A1 and then A test). Means your not restricted in any means

DAS is direct access, basically you need CBT + Theory then you take MOD1, (low speed maneuvering/swerve test/emergency stop) and MOD2 (persued by instructor), both need to be done on a bike of at least 595cc and at least 53.6 BHP (40KW) of power.

It all changed this year. Now if you are under 22 and want a full bike licence it will take a while and three separate tests.

That sounds complicated.
I just turned up. Road round the block and did an emergency stop.
As long as you dint fall off you could ride anything after :)

Thats what i did.
These days it's quite complicated as there are 3 classes of "full" license.

All pretty much the same route.

1. CBT
2. Theory
3. Mod 1
4. Mod 2

A1 = 125cc only, but you can ride 125s on the motorway, carry passengers etc. You won't see many of those.
A2 = Up to 49Bhp, and the bike must not be restricted by more than 50% of it's horsepower. Riders under 21 years old. After 2 years, and if they are 21, they can redo the Mod2 test on a full power motorcycle and ride a bike of any horsepower and capacity.
A = Mod2 test is taken on a bike of more than 595cc, and more than 49Bhp. Allows Direct access to any size of motorcycle. You must be over 24 to do direct access.

That sounds complicated.

The good old days ay. If I had done mine when I was 17-18 that's what mine would have been like I think. Took it when I was 24 ish.
