I already have an after market danmoto on my pointy sv. But I'm wondering how can i make my bike sound louder, especially lower down.

Could i remove the cat?

Just take the end can completely off. Much louder.

But that is louder.

What's stopping you getting a IL4 600?

sv650 cost me like 2500 pounds alone to insure TPO which is a pain, the only other bike I could insure would be the xj6, other fully faired 250cc/ 300cc and 400cc/600cc are even more expensive.
The joys of being 18 in south london :D.

Pull out the snorkel

Just take the airbox lid off for maximum induction effect. You'll need to take the foil off from under the tank though to stop it getting sucked into the engine.

Saw this done on here recently. Half a trees worth of leaves and crap had gotten in there and was blocking the filter.

Mine's been off since I got the bike, never had any problems at all.

Glad it's been ok for you. Others haven't been so fortunate...

That's a nest, not sucked in debris. Could have just as easily happened with the lid on. In fact more likely as it wold have been a cosier nest site and a mouse can easily get up your snorkel.

Yeah you could be right there. I de snorkelled my pointy and didn't have any debris etc get in. I just remembered seeing that pic/thread and remember how it mentioned the air box lid being off.

For the original poster, louder for you or louder for everyone else? Airbox mods make a noise that probably more noticeable to the rider.

Open the throttle more... That'll make it louder

Which danmoto do you have? Mine currently sets car alarms of every day... which is fun!

I have this one...

You're 18, live in South London, and you want to make even more noise....? Is paying 2.5k for your insurance not enough penalty or do you want a really short riding career?

Seriously, if you live in the middle of nowhere then fair enough but think about others for a moment. The airbox mod is subtle, mostly heard by you and especially noticable when you open the throttle low down. Do that and leave the can alone.

I had a terrible dream last night. My pointy went in for a service, and came back and was as quiet as a frickin mouse. That stunning sound was gone! What a terrible feeling, thank goodness it was just a dream :(

I'll swap you my CCC stubbied can for your DanMoto.

It has a removable baffle, but is pretty loud with the baffle in.

As said by someone earlier take the baffles out, or changeit to a scorpion extreme pipe, then your ears will bleed…
But in town do you really need it stupidly loud? …
I’ve got silly loud pipe on mine and people turn around “WTF is that noise” just waiting till I **** off some copper……….
no offence to the boys in blue on the forum.

Two things, both previously mentioned. One, it's probably loud enough as it is. If you need to make yourself heard to one car in particular, the manufacturers have taken care of that for you, there's a button on the left bar next to your thumb.

Two, de-snorkel and replace filter with K&N.

I've got a pair of chewys tank risers to fit a pointy kicking around in the garage. Never bothered fitting them before I sold my sv.
If anyone wants them drop me a pm (they'll be much cheaper than new ;) )
