View Full Version : Pointy ECU remapping?

Hi, I have an all standard SV650K3 which is superb on the open road but round town I've always found it a bit titchy at low revs ie difficult to hold a slow engine speed without it either wanting rev out or give sudden engine braking when you throttle off, all this in slow speed traffic below 20mph.
I've already modified the throttle response down to 1500rpm which has improved it but I was wondering if the ECU can be remapped to give better smoother throttle control and more torque at low revs. Any tips or recommendations would be very welcome

more than likely as they will map it to how you want it. just remember what you gain you will loose elsewhere.
TBH i have no problem with mine at lows speed but i tend to keep the throttle on and drag the back brake anything lower than 10/15mph.

I doubt a remap will make much difference, they can just be a bit jerky below 20mph if you're not careful. I filter slower than 20mph pretty much all the way to work, it stops being a problem once you get used to it. Don't waste your money on a remap I'd say.

I'd have a good look at everything else first, ie: the plugs, TPS, air filter etc to make sure it's all working as it should, especially if this maybe something that has developed ( I appreciate you say you have always found it like this). How long have you had it? Remember the SV system is fairly basic, not quite up there with the latest superbike....

Yes you can with very good results. You wont gain and then loose somewhere else either!.
We get alot in to remap to smooth the low down throttle response..its also worth balancing the throttle bodies properly at the same time.
The SV ECU is not basic at all and like any bike getting the fueling custom mapped makes a big difference to how the bike runs and feels and is one of the most commonly overlooked things. Generic factory fueling maps are just that, generic. No two bikes will fuel the same, injector flow rates play a big part in that. We mapped 2 identical SV650 race bikes, same age and mileage as both were brought new. Same exhausts etc..and they took totally different maps.
If you want more info drop me a PM.
