I got my blue pointy (2nd hand) exactly a month ago. Yesterday morning I paid the first installment. Yesterday afternoon it got knocked over.

Had the garage cast an eye over the damage for a ball park figure. Possibly write off time. A write off wouldn't cover the finance, so I'm trying to reduce the damage bill.

Recommendations for a good sounding legal aftermarket can would be greatly appreciated!!!

Look at free flow on eBay to see if they do one. Got one on my vstrom and it's just an unbadged Beowulf. Sound good and mine cost £99 new.

Front caliper, bar end, brake lever, twisted top yoke, exhaust, that rear snow plough monstrosity, front right indicator, chipped fork.

I can see it being a tail tidy and after market exhaust to keep the cost below write off value

what's the twisted top yoke gonna mean? New top yoke only? Those can be aftermarket too....

New after market levers, exhaust and tail tidy cover off the majority and might been what you'd do eventually anyway....if it were me I wouldn't bother with the claim assuming you would be making a claim against you own policy?

It'll be in third parties insurance. My worry though is that it will be written off if OEM stuff is used, so I'm trying to find ways to drop the value of the claim. Bizarre situation really.

Get second hand parts, shouldn't cost more than a few hundred with that list.
I got a mint top yoke a few months ago for £45 quid. Calipers can be had for a similar price, pretty sure I have a spare left front one somewhere in the garage.

My curvy was knocked over by a van in our car park two weeks ago. I was told this week that it's been written off and an offer of £1200 made to me for it. I'll buy it back but try for a better offer first. What pee's me off is that it was a perfectly good bike before the accident and I'll now be the one out of pocket having to spend a heap of time sorting it out. Fecking van drivers.

How was it knocked over? Were you parked in a parking space?

You should be able to replace those parts with aftermarket for half the cost of OEM.

It was parked in a bay, I know the guy who knocked it over. I think he was more upset than me! the problem is I only got it exactly a month before, in fact I only made the first installment yesterday too. Although it will go through his insurance, I need to avoid a write off, so I'm hoping the insurers accept me asking for after market parts to keep the repair bill down.

The bike is a good 'un until yesterday. If I can convince the insurers on an aftermarket exhaust and a tail tidy I think I could end up with a tidier looking bike than I started with. If they insist on OEM then I'm stuffed.

It depends on the repairer. Mine allowed me to omit some of the minor things as I had them parts sitting in the shed
If 4th Dimension pick it up, they're spot on

ermm if its 100% blame you can demand that the bike be fixed. don't take their bull, your in control not them. also demand that your no claims be kept intact and you should not have to pay any excess.

I avoid parking in normal parking bays as best I can. Luckily to 2 times that my bike nearly reversed into I was standing next to it. Not sure how they didn't see me or the bike considering I was wearing a fluorescent orange jacket at the time.

Hope you get it fixed and back to the way it was.

Fixed at last!

All OEM expect the Scorpion Red can. ;-)
