I am sorry, but far too old and sane to risk any part of me with Metzlers.

Tyres are what keep me from the deck, I buy the best I can afford.

Old Metzelers yes, the Z4's were lethal, so I'd agree with you there Tim

But the new ones are fantastic

Z6's fantastic all round tyre, wet, cold, track days etc etc.

Z8's are newer and probably a bit better.

I agree to that. The m3's are brilliant tyres and are just silly with the grip they have. Z4's were crap!

I had Z6s on my curvy - never had a problem with them. If you don't like the brand I guess you'll perhaps subconsciously think they're not great when you ride on them but in reality most of the main brands will be fine. Most of us are unlikely to be able to tell the difference in reality so it's down to personal preference.

My 250 (way back in the mists of time) came with Avons that were old and hard and dreadful in the wet. I replaced them with Metzler ME55s and the bike was transformed. Sure the bike would have been better with any new tyres but...

the old ME55's were king of the hill at one time a long time ago if i'm thinking the same tyre, looked like a diamond pattern.. i'm talking the mid 80's. yokohama now there was a scary tyre.

In 85 i fitted metzeler ME 33 and 99. They were bias belt (every thing else was cross ply then).
They were the next step and i got 1500 miles from them .That was like unbelivable vback then

I have the Z8's on my curvy, also fitted them to replace the Z6's on the Deauville, oh and the NC700 has them on too. Nowt wrong with them at all IMO, others may have different opinions.

The thing which struck me first was they felt much more compliant than the Z6, taking quite a bit of harshness out of the road surface feel without losing confidence. Definitely seem a generally better tyre than the Z6, which was fine in its day. The curvy came fitted with Z4 as OE, they were nasty horrid things.

I can't say how long they'll last yet, only done about 4k on any of the bikes with them on, but so far they're keeping good shape.

Not to sound like an **** or anything but Pirelli who make the Super Corsa and Metzler are actually the same company
