View Full Version : Correct bleed nipples for Pointy?

This is turning in to a crappy day...
So i've had a weeping bleed nipple in my left caliper. Decided to order new nipples for both calipers as well as seals and do it as a job lot. I got the calipers off (and have since been wrestling with pistons for the past hour which is infuriating), but then decided to check the nipples...
It seems the ones I ordered (through Robinsons Foundry) are slightly pointier at the end that goes in to the caliper??
The calipers are from a K7. The part no is 59121-34020. Is this correct?
I've attached a photo showing old bleed nipple (black) and the new nipple (silver).
Any help is appreciated as I'm a bit worried about this...

don't worry about it the point is only there to 'close' the hole.

Phew... can always rely on you bibio, thank you!
Made some progress with the pistons, footpump plus plastic attachement thingy in to the bleed nipple hole, plus some swearing... getting there.

On second thoughts... maybe that wasn't the best idea. Got one side off but just taken the very tip of my middle finger off doing the other side.
Ow ow ow ow...

Pistons out now, at last...
Quick one - what type of grease should I use on the sliding pins, not sure what the exact names are, but they have a rubber thing over them and the caliper slides on them.

Suzuki, in their wisdom, provided the ultimate tool for blowing out the pistons - the brake lever!

This worked up to a point but didn't want to have brake fluid fly everywhere...

Red rubber grease, don't use LM or copperslip.
I've lost count of how many calipers I've rebuilt that people have used the wrong grease in the wrong locations
internal sliding pins use RRG, external pins use coppaslip. keep coppaslip the feck away from rubber. if you have anti squeal shims then no need for coppaslip behind pads.

Cheers for the help guys. Calipers rebuilt and fitted back to the bike, just need to bleed them, think i'll leave that till tomorrow though...
Was quite surprised to see how much dirt gets behind the seals, thankfully the pistons were all in good condition.
