Now that I have got a little more spare each month, I'm going to try and get a few upgrades for the bike. I'l already got a few aesthetic things like a Powerbronze belly pan and R&G tailtidy, but I'm not sure where to go with a few other bits

Suspension

I've spoken to the garage I normally use as they now provide Hyperpro springs and shocks, and the gave me a price of £256.50 including fitting for the Combi Kit (progressive fork springs and a replacement spring for the shock). This really caught me eye but I'm wondering if there are cheaper options. The Hagon spings are £80 and even though I'm useless with a spanner I reckon I could fit the new springs myself. That leaves the rear shock which looking around can be expensive. I'd really prefer something new rather than used and the other options I've tried are pretty pricey

Exhaust

Suggestions on the best value for money - I've looked at Delkevic (and heard one on Shawthing's) and they look and sound decent. Not flush enough for a top end silencer so £150-180 is around my ballpark

Seat

I know the Corbin seat is a good one, and Top Sellerie look sweet too, but are there any other options? Possibly cheaper?

If there are any other cheap upgrades (nothing that involves chopping airboxes etc) I'm open to suggestions

these are my personal feelings.....

why stick a new spring on a shock that is already crap and not valved for the spring.

why stick a progressive spring in, all they do is dive till they hit the harder part of rate. this will do nothing to help the already soggy front end. get linear to match your weight.

Delkevic look decently made and for the price i would buy one.

phone a specialist like tony archer and see what he can do for your seat.

Are the spring really not worth it? Just not keen on buying used bits from other bikes and the new bits are pricey

Replacement spring on stock shock is a f***ing retarded idea.
It's CRAP and has no rebound damping on the stock spring, sticking a heavier one on can't do anything but make that worse!

For £250 thereabouts you could get emulators, proper springs (linears set for your weight) and fit a shock from a ZX-R that would work better than any hacked-about stock one... bring it over to me and we fit the lot ;)

Exhausts... meh... slip-ons are all the same really. Save the money on the can for better suspension.

Might have to take you up on that Chris, Brettus tells me you're quite a genius with spanner in hand :)

Wheres the best place to look for emulators and springs? And the ZXR shock is it a good idea to get a brand new one, always been a bit dubious about getting used despite them being cheaper

emulators.
Buy a few sets, they sell well!

Springs, I can sort for about £85 (ktech linears) unless you can get better deal somewhere.

Re shock, used ones are fine, IMO. And you could buy a new penske for the price of a new stock shock...

Ill keep you in mind because my k3 pointy debrix upgrade is my winter job and springs will be next on my part list. Im sure I heard someone does the mod for a price because I need to do a read up on how its done.

Never thought I'd be looking at bike parts for a Harley lol so a pair of them for about £23, £85 for the springs. Been looking on eBay for the shock but a lot of them are in a real state, and not sure if there are any specific years to look for. Some of the better ones are around £100, is that what I should be looking at?

Sorry for all the questions I really am pretty clueless with mechanics, although I'd love to learn

Emulators make the old (cheap) fork design of the SV (or any damper rod fork) work and feel very much like a modern cartridge fork. A very good improvement.
