I have tried to search on this topic but the search engine drops most of my keywords like bar and end!.

My standard OEM (throttle) bar end fell off, and is of course lost in time and space (well somewhere on the A38 north of Bristol anyway - I felt something hit my leg). So I want to buy some new replacements so 3 questions please:

1. Recommendations for replacements (black or silver I guess). I gather a weighted set might smooth out some of the vibration coming through the clip-on bars...

2. The few threads I have found suggest I have a problem - removing the internal squidgy bit (as I believe it's called) of the missing bar end. Any tips on getting this out...

3. And also, tips on removing the 'good' one - can I safely completely remove the screw or do I just ease it slightly and pull! I have tried this gingerly to no effect but maybe I just didn't have enough Weetabix that day.

They have always seemed a bit lose and tightening the screw seemed to have little effect.

Oh, and if anyone can tell me how to avoid chewing up my swinging arm with the spinning/distorting alignment lugs when tightening the chain I'd be very grateful. Damage is already done of course :(

Get Bibio's chain adjusters.

The rest I'll leave for the others.

Get Bibio's chain adjusters.

+1 Don't know why Suzuki don't make them like his!

As for bar ends mine rotate slightly if it try to move them, but the screws are thread locked in to prevent what happened to you

bar ends.. never fully remove the screw, loosen off the screw and then tap back in then remove bar end. BOTM for replacement bar ends https://www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/motorcycles/my-suzuki/bike-of-the-month/

suzuki don't make their chain adjusters like mine as theirs are stamped out of mild steel then galvanised also not handed so cost pennies to make. mine are laser cut, machined, formed, are handed and made from Stainless Steel and cost mega pennies to make.

BTW i don't have any stock of the adjusters until a few months.

You're just a tease Bibio ;)

think the previous owner messed the threads up in the bars on mine because when i do finally get the bolt to go in the thread it gets to a certain point then just spins. im sure i have heard of some rubber expanding thing that you can but in the handlebar its meant for bars that have no thread?

pointy S have no threads its a rubber bung, you just need to pull hard and wiggle.

i'll repeat what i said, '''don't undo the screw completely'''

To remove you don't have to cut the bars. To remove you do as others say undo the threaded screw until the actual bar end can swivel around, but not out of the other end. You can then gently persuade the whole unit out by gently wiggling and a gentle pull at the same time. I usually lean the bike over slightly so the weight of the bar end helps the extraction and will sometimes almost drop out.

I had one of my bar ends fall off while out on a ride on an SK3, but they were after-market replaced by a previous owner. I always got a lot of vibration from the LH handlebar anyway. Tried replacing with heavy weight Stainless steel one and though they made matters better there was still excessive vibration that eventually numbed my left hand. So I waited until Suzuki had them on one of their "Bike of the Month" deals and bought a pair of the the OEM part, which are expensive normally, at 60% discount. The excessive vibration problem disappeared

This is great stuff thanks. Bibio, I would be interested in your replacement chain adjusters when available please.

Well I certainly got told! I'll rephrase that to "I wish that Suzuki made chain adjusters like his!" (actually that is a lie because I know exactly who I'd rather give my money to, and it's not Suzuki in this case!)

looks like your missing a bung that goes on the bottom nut.

Are you sure I've taken a second picture separating the rubber bung bitshttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/30/2edaqana.jpg

thats more like it but i'm sure there is a washer that goes at the bottom of the ally tube to stop the bung rising up on it. the top bung goes at the top of the bar end

I need to have a look at the microfiche and the exploded view. Thx

Disco, as Bibio says, there should be a washer between the innermost (largest) rubber bung and the end of the chrome (as in your picture) sleeve. This is what forces the larger rubber bung to expand when you tighten the screw in the captive nut. Without the washer, the bung just moves along the sleeve a bit... This was missing from mine which is why I could never tighten it properly and it fell off. I finally got mine off and now understand how it works!

Finding a replacement is not so easy though...

:smt033Oh yes it is!

The motorcycle breakers "Bike Hut" just north of Bristol had exactly what I needed - replacement bar end with the required screw for £7.

http://www.bikehutbristol.co.uk/

They were recommended on here. Looks like they have a lot of SV stuff.

Have travelled this path! Truth, Bibio's adjusters are the best money I've ever spent on the bike. BUT, they look so good had to spend same money again on Pro bolt stainless wheel nut to match indestructable, non-corroding adjusters, D'Oh! Thanks Bibio.
Bar ends, er well, both mine are now mashed up after gale force winds and recent encounter with roundabout death wish car driver... never knew OE items were better than AM replacements, so viva la forum.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/03/y8y4uny8.jpg well I like to give as good as I get so for all those interested this is the complete bar end assembly. To fit, hold the biggest rubber bung washer and nut with left hand, tighten screw until it expands biggest rubber bung washer so it's a grippy fit in the handlebars then push it all the way into place and tighten gently.

Thanks for your assistance.
