If you are parking in an on-road bay (in a car) is whether you're in the bay or not measured by the wheels or bodywork?
I was in one today, and my back wheels just a couple of inches inside the white line, but the back of the bumper was quite an way over the line.

I got a parking ticket once for my rear wheels on the yellow line by about two inches.
I do recall seeing somewhere that it's based on your wheels, but I could've dreamt that lol
I think it is based on your wheels being in the bay markings

My understanding is wheels although the only legal authority I have to back that up is my brain. So please, correct me if I'm wrong.

I've always heard people say it's down to the wheels - plus I've had a penalty in the past where my rear wheel was about 6" onto a double yellow but the other 95% of the car was in a bay with a parking ticket. Asswholes.
If it's wheels I'm going to keep a pile of bricks and a jack in the motor, pop the wheels off and park anywhere, sorted!
