For the first time that I can remember the BBC televised the recent World Squash Championships in Manchester (albeit on BBC red button and online). There was a shock when Remy Ashour pulled out of his semi final against Nick Matthew through injury. Remy has been unbeaten for something like 48 games but has apparently being playing injured for about six months! The final yesterday was sublime and a brilliant demonstration of how fit, athletic and skilful these players need to be at this level. The outcome was that we have a new World Champion in Nick Matthew who overcame the Frenchman Gregory Gaultier by just being fitter than him and trouncing him in the final game. If you have never watched anything like this, then now may be the time. As you can imagine, after playing squash for over 20 years I am in complete awe of these men as I know how hard it is. Well done Nick!

I had no idea it was on the bbc yesterday! otherwise I would have done my best to watch it. I've been a squash player for some 15 years at least now (only just turned 27 too!), no where near as good as I used to be (due to severe medical stuff :( ), but still love to play as best I can and watch the game when it's such a high standard.

Oh that sort of squash. Because I found half of one in the back of the fridge last night I'd forgotten about and it smelled properly nasty. Almost worse than Chris's bottom.
