View Full Version : Covering a wet bike?
I generally only get to ride my bike once a week, on a long commute, at the moment. As I don't have a garage, it lives outside. I really don't like covering it over when it's already wet. The thing is, as it's perpetually wet, it's just never getting covered as it's pretty much not drying out.
How does anyone else cope with this? Am I being over paranoid? Should I whack a cover over even though the bike is wet and let it dry under that?
I'd just be interested to hear what others who don't have the luxury of indoor parking do with their SV.

I used to cover my bike when I didn't have a garage. I used it all the time so would often be covered wet. Looking back I really don't know why I bothered.

If you're that worried, get yourself a big bag of microfibre cloths, and wipe down all the usual suspect areas before covering. You won't get all the water off, but most of it. Wouldn't worry about the engine especially, but tank, fork legs, and all the other corrosion prone areas you can reach would be a good idea. That's about the best you can do, other than soak the bike in WD40 or another water displacement product.
FYI costco do a bundle of microfibre cloths for not too much money. I use these routinely...Works pretty well.

Blow it off with a leaf blower, then cover.

Aren't you supposed to put that FS365 stuff on your bike when it's wet and it prevents corrosion?
