I've taken today to finally ready the gsr for winter.
She's been cleaned top to bottom and been left to dry.
Whilst it dried I finally fitted the scotoiler and im (in the process of) fitting the heated grips. 2 jobs I've been putting off since I bought it... 18months ago :-O she hibernated last winter though so it didn't matter much.
Not this yesr though, this winter it'll be in daily use. So my question after all the yabbering is should I polish the bikes body work etc before I blather the whole thing in acf50? Does acf50 defeat the point of the polish? Does winter defeat the point of polish?
Your thoughts...

A good polish on the body work and ACF50 on the motor and low bits.
Thats how I've done mine, I wouldn't say using ACF on the bodywork would be a good idea as it attracts dirt

No point polishing over the top of ACF50. (if there was a point to polishing...)

Second question then, after I've sprayed the bike and left it quite literally dripping in acf50 (left over night) do I wipe it down now or just leave it looking like an elephant has sexually relieved itself over it?

Start up and let the heat do the rest.
Chris want some autoglym for Christmas? ;-)

Wax after you've polished. Wax will protect the surface better. I've built up a couple of layers of wax on my bike. Any water that hits the surface beads up and rolls straight off.

I do,the same thing and drown the bike in acf50. The best way is to warm the engine first, not too hot mind!
If you've already used acf, then run the engine for a few minutes and turn off again. The warmth will get the acf flowing into the cracks and crevices really well. Beware though, the first time you actually ride out, you'll be hidden in a smoke cloud at the first set of lights!

And don't get it on your brakes unless you are prepared to meet the dark lord or at least renew thy undergrollies due to severe besmirchment at the first application of said ACF-spaffed brakes.

OK so i pushed it outside and watched it send smoke signals back to the elephant.
I polished it, lubed and sprayed everything as required. Degunked the chain and sprockets as well so the oiler is oiling metal as opposed to road crap. The bike could even pass for respectable again.

I clean the bike, polish and wax the body work and then coat the engine and exposed metal with ACF50 and leave it until spring. :D
No point cleaning it through the winter, road salt covers everything and grime coats the ACF50. When you wash it off in the spring, it is gleaming underneath. ;-)
