A: When it's the new KTM 1190 Adventure...
Anybody who knows me would probably testify that I'm something of a KTM fan...
However, it seems in their quest to compete with the other brands' soft roader market section they've forgotten people actually perceive their bikes as real off-road machines and will take them beyond the gravel tracks
RAM-air + poor airbox QC = dust in the engine
Pretty shocking TBH, especially given KTM's poor reaction - not a huge amount of love for the new 1190 ADV amongst KTM enthusiasts

Wow. Nothing like the 990 then! Sounds like a serious issue that ktm need to sort very quickly or they will be seen in very bad Iight very quickly.

What an absolute shower...
Oi KTM, your bikes aren't pretty enough to use the ducati business model...

Indeed
Especially with the Multistrada looking nothing like Donald Duck with a serious cocaine habit...

Shocking stuff, it must have something to do with thier business partnership with "Bajaj" and a change in business model, they just wouldn't have done this back when it was about function not format
What's worse is the issue is very likely preventable with a minimal design change / modification but in doing so they would have admitted there's a problem and so are reluctant....but I bet we see a change with next years model!
I was very close to getting an adventure 1190 (non-R) when looking at a newer bike after the SM-T, I'm bloody glad I didn't go down that road as although I would mainly be tarmac bound it's a design issue that will affect resale value for sure!
Still waiting for a 1290 SMR anyway, with a new and improved air intake system ;)

Not quite the Panigale is it lol, I think the adventure 1190 is probably the best looking of the big adventure bikes, but then I would I guess as I have a SM-T...I also prefer the pointy to the curvy lol
Very annoying, as I've ridden the 1190 ADV (not-R - I'd need leg extensions for that) and it is a very good bike. Couldn't draw the guys on the stand at the NEC on when the 1190 SM was arriving though :p

That's a pile of ****, I actually considered one of these when I bought my explorer, I'll share this on the abr forum in case peeps haven't seen it.

Posted this on abr and a guy on there said his rc8's swingarm snapped and ktm's attitude was it wasn't part of the structual integrity of the bike!!!
Not good for the brand, especially with me as I'm not a massive fan but was drooling over the 690 enduro yesterday at the nec.

I have a ktm and a triumph, ktm do have some catching up to do on the customer service front!
I initially thought it was my local dealership with a poor attitude but it looks like it's KTM themselves

I know Ed done a court case against a dealer years ago for defective super duke, for an orger
I've heard the rc8 story before. The bajaj assembled bikes are better built from the reports I've got. I know a dealer thats winter running one to find out

Really, not what I would have expected, in fact I would have thought the Bajaj partnership is part of the reason for the issues...
Trouble is this is the first year of the bike production...next years may well be a lot lot better

Someone over on the KTM forum said, you can guarantee two things from KTM, the bikes will be epic to ride, and the first model year will be problematic... ;)

But that's not a great excuse when they've already made the 950/990 one for years!
Plus, ram air on an ADV? eh...

The baby dukes are the first bajaj bikes. Bajaj are the second largest shareholder in KTM group (behind the MD) and are one of the largest Indian bike manufacturers.
Sad to say only triumph have seemed to have broken the typical European problem with year one bikes
To add more insult to injury KTM have already killed off the 990 lc8 motor and the rc8 engine,
