View Full Version : recommend me a dishwasher...

after 5 years of mostly faithful service and unconditional love, Candy (CDI 1012) has passed away, with a failed circuit board and suspected other issues (possibly drug overdose).

The dishwasher engineer was a very shouty and angry kind of guy (think trevor philips from GTA 5) and I stupidly rang my friend who's a kitchen designer/supplier type person while he was still in the house. He went all militant about Beko dishwashers being the best and having cheap parts once they do go wrong, my friend suggested Neff dishwashers and the guy nearly exploded..

So coming from a common garden candy dishwasher, what would you guys recommend as a replacement? Or rather, what brands would you actively avoid after having a nightmare with them?

Thanks in advance, Mr. Filthy Full Kitchen Sink in York..

Mine is 10 years old so can't recommend a new one but if I can remember my log in details I can check Which? best buys for you.

Cannot recommend a make, but I will advise you not to buy from Argos. Aftersales service from them if it goes wrong is atrocious. (currently into 3rd week without a working dryer, purchased in October).

I'm a little stuck for choice as I went with the hotpoint graphite range. Fridge/freezer, washer & dishwasher - well recommended.

cheers guys, my friend Kayleigh is going to look to sort out the purchase (30-50% off RRP :D winning) so just want to avoid buying anything which is known to be utter poocrap.

And Clare, mine's built in under the units with a flat front so the cupboard door is screwed to it. Standard width about 600mm wide by 900mm tall off the top of my head (need to measure)..

Thanks everyone!

I always go with Which? best buys and have so far been lucky in that my two washing machines have both lasted over 10 years and the dishwasher is 11 years old soon. The only thing I didn't do it with was the fridge freezer and that has just needed replacing as it's always had a design fault meaning it frosts up.

My dishwasher was a wedding present from my parents as they knew the thing most likely to result in a divorce between me and Mr LPH was arguing over whose turn to wash up!

Right hang on I shall look up the intergrated full width ones for you and send another message on FB.

For £500 you could probably buy a slave who can cook as well as wash up you know.

Bosch! we have both dishwasher & washing machine.

Always have had this make, wore one dishwaher out in 8 years I think, maybe longer, this ones still going strong, had the engineer out recently because of a light, which turned out to be gummed up sensor.

Either that or AEG

Any Bosch model should do. We have one (cheapest model available at the time) at each branch of our business, they all run 3 times a day 6 days a week, they last at least 6 years..

Beko. I bought one on the strength of my mates bike shop who uses his a few times a day every day for the last few years in his bikers cafe. His is still going strong as is mine. :-)

im with maviczap and others on this one,get a bosch, almost all of my white goods are bosch, they last and never go wrong,
now i'm expecting to have to replace the washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and boiler as they will all go pop tomorrow, now having tempted fate with the above statement,
or you buy cheap almost unbranded, and most likely have to replace it twice or thee times as often
