I am changing my Oil in my 2006 SV650s. Would a Bottle of ASDA 10W40 Semi Synth do the job?? it doesn't say whether it does Bikes.

If it doesn't say it's for bikes I would stay away from it. By the time you find out whether it contains friction modifiers or not it could be too late.
Bikes use the same oil in the gears as they do in the engine. Cars don't. Friction modifiers are great until they touch the clutch plates, then they cause all sorts of horrid problems.
go and get halfords bike oil.
