Bored this evening and looking through old photos. Here's a couple of a supermoto I built a couple of years ago. Started with a cheap pair of e-bay wheels that I needed a home for, so I decided to see what I could do entirely with second hand bits. Lets see pictures of what you're chuffed with, anything at all.

Thats the sort of thing, cool! Something really satisfying about it, especially if its cheap. After riding them building thems best.
Must be more out there.

Rebuilt a couple of Yamaha RD350LCs and one Honda VF500 F2.

Both bikes were a lot of fun to work with. The Honda was my brothers, he got T-boned when a car pulled out of a side road. Luckily for him he flew over the bonnet and received just a few light injuries, the honda had snapped it's fork stanchions, needed the frame re-jigging, plastics were destroyed and there was other cosmetic damage. I rebuilt it for him as a surprise when he went on a two week holiday. His face was a picture when he came home to find his bike looking fixed up and nearly new.

The Yams were mine, I crashed them a lot and rebuilding was the norm.

I've had this TDR since the early 90s and been slowly playing with it over the years. Finally got round to a proper rebuild this year.

One of mine, built for the commute to work.
Crazy spec 110cc pit bike engine, could wheelie in all gears, and top speed around 55mph. Very capable of leaving much larger bikes for dead at the lights too.

Sadly stolen a month after i finished all the work.

Chinese chopper, similar to AJS regal raptor/Kinroad. Basically a honda C50 manual engine, but a chinese clone. Stomp pit bike engine is a straight fit, and i was going to go for the 185/225cc one once i'd sourced a disk based front end, then anodise and chrome the heck out of everything, including rims, solid rear wheel center, engine covers/tappet covers etc.
Was built purely for hilarity. Turned out to be quite a capable commuter too.

Already road registered then as the chinese thing? Thats when I got fed up of the supermoto, local DVLA were having none of it. Wasted countless hours on paperwork, phone calls and visits.
Built a Bandit chop years ago from a crashed 600, just welded the headstock complete with frame number onto a hardtail frame, didn't even need an mot because it was only a year old. Kind of stretching it a bit but I got away with it.

Yes, it was. Re registered as the correct CC of course. Would have been fun when completely finished, and as blingy as a tarts handbag, but that was kind of the point :)

I like that BMW so much I might just have to copy it. Is it considered a compliment or an insult these days if someone just nicks all your ideas?

Is the steering damper on the BMW a factory thing or did you fit it? I remember ones like that on old RD200s I think.

From memory & I've Googled to check it, it was OEM BMW

Go for it, nothing that original or groundbreaking on my build just an amalgam of ideas, the paint was my choice and the biggest extravagance.

This is the picture I saw that gave me the idea and inspiration:-

Steering damper was OEM too BTW.

I love the chop, sorry to hear it was nicked good on you for going for it.

I always wanted a TDR used to race my mate who had one when I had my X7!

Not really built anything new but I have done a nut and bolt restore on this over the past 18 months. Why? I was 17 and riding a scabby AR125 when these were first released. I dreamed of having one of these or an NSR250 but no chance for a spotty teenager with a part time job in McDonalds.

Roll on 20 or so years and I was in a position to buy a second bike purely for fun. I was aware that prices of 2 strokes are going through the roof so it was basically now or never. This thing was a right mess when I got it but is now pretty much pristine.

These are great to work on as they are so mechanically simple and I still think they are one of the best looking bikes ever made. Riding wise they are fairly useless 95% of the time but on the right road on the right day no other bike I have ridden comes close.

I would also like to get my hands on a TDR one day but like everything 2 stroke prices are starting to get silly... Also love the BMW - that kind of conversion is another step up in skills.
