The title says it all really.

I know its the time of year, its dark, wet and generally miserable but why do they feel the need.

why do the car drivers block when they are in stationery traffic.
Full beam me for riding at the speed limit
Try force me off the road and overtake in some of the stupidest places possible and constantly ride up my are.

90% of them are okay but its that 10%.

I lost it tonight after a full week of this kind of harrasment and was bad, but the car driver fully deserved it as he did all the above.

Now I can't take them out back With a shotgun so what's peoples recomdations??:smt066
Those that know me know I'm not an angry person.

Your two problems are living close to London and riding in rush hour. The closer you are to a major city the more the people are dicks. Also the closer to rush hour people travel, the more peoples' nobbishness comes to the surface. Basically, ride outside rush hour and live as far away from that **** hole skag den waste of concrete filthy **** ridden graveyard of dismay called London as you possibly can.

if its at lights, ask them to wind down window, fart in face, if its good they'll pass out, no longer causing an issue to other road users...

I read the subject and thought "firmly with both hands" was the only way I would consider.

Then I read the post and wished the first answer was more interesting.

Don't try and deal with them, especially if you're on a bike, just rise above whatever they are doing an look out for number one. Like you say it's only a small percentage and they're just not worth it.

Oh that lorry video has cheered me up.

I just needed a rant as I'm fed up of slowing someone's commute down by a whole 10 seconds.

And job. I had less problems doing central London every day for 6months than I have had in a week of local commutes.
Once the supermoto is up and running again it will be alright as the rear sliding in the wet in fun compared to the kwaka doing it.

best advice yet.

you don't know who they are or what they are capable of. there are some very very nasty people out there who would not think twice of just pushing you into a barrier or blocking your way and getting out and smashing your face in.

Commuting in London I'm trying to learn to rise above it and not get so wound up....just not worth it.

Any reason why you ride with full beam though? Having someone behind me or coming towards me with their lights on full beam is a sure way of ****ing me off, especially in the rain. Ped riders are usually the worst.

Go on, tell us how you really feel. ;)

I have in the past been pretty zen riding in London. but I have noticed when the weather changes it gets really bad for a few weeks. I have noticed the 10% just don;t acknowledge that its wet with stopping distances high and visibility low. When it goes dry the 10% on two wheels (motor and push), who have been taking the tube for 6 months think that they have the skill and speed to keep up with those who have been riding through the winter.

The last week I have been finding it really difficult to keep my zen.

Also the second worst culprits* seem to be 7 series, I have theories on why. For the last 3 weeks I have been actively counting the number of 7 series I see and the majority do something dangerous (causing heavy breaking or evasive). Getting less common now as I avoid them like the plague.

*They are almost as bad a Addison Lee drivers.

Best way to deal with arses is to get medieval on them.(And use both hands)

I've noticed this as well, it's as if the already angry drivers are extra angry with the weather and take it out on the sensible drivers.

I think what the Op was saying is that other drivers give him full beam because he is riding at the speed limit and holding them up?

BBadger

Yea no full beams on the bike unless there's no one about on dark country lanes.

And clunk I think the summer lot are worse. The amount of scooter riders who were a mm away from getting split in half because they don't look.
Winter riders I trust.

And I know its all the merc, BMW and Audi drivers we need to look out for but its all been those little French things or old Skoda's for me.

Yeah. This is the same company whose CEO said cyclists should expect to be run over in London. (and I don't mean in the "Assume everyone is trying to kill you so ride defensively kind of way") and they are bl00dy everywhere in London.

BBadger, yeah the summer lot are awful. That why I said when the weather changes, bad to good weather transition is just as bad. It was funny when I cycled to work, loads of the winter cyclist's refused to clean their bike in spring. There'd often be a few of us at the front of the queue at the lights and just look around at the sea of brand new kit, and drop their fat ar5es quicker then Joe Marcon taking on a lambo.

The Addison Lee CEO. Hahaha
Didn't he also tell his cab drivers to use bus lanes and he'd pay the fine. Thinking they could only get one fine a day.
Clever guy...

Seen a Addison Lee taxi driver overtake another car which was easily doing the speed limit plus change down Uxbridge road (near Ealing Common) last night. What a twit.
