Hi guys,
So i had to send off my card and license to change my address recently and it seems to have changed a little...
Before i sent it off it had a pass date for my full bike test of the date i passed 13:10:09
However now i have a 'cat A' (unrestricted) license from 21:04:12??? And at the bottom it says ' kpq 13:10:09'? I have googled kpq license and all i can fond is a radio station, anyone have any ideas on what has happened?
Main reason for my concern is i recently told my insurance my license is from 13:10:09 not 21:04:12
I read somewhere that technically you have had your full license from 21/4/12 (in your case) as that is the date you had no restrictions. I have always told my insurers the actually date I passed my test, not the day my restriction was lifted. I guess someone in insurance can shed some more light on it (Ninthbike???) Your new license will also include all of the category's now, so you can see what your cant drive aswell as what you can.

P and Q are moped (various different categories of those now)
K is things like pedestrian controlled vehicles and motor mowers.
Query it with DVLA. It may be because the license classes all changed at the beginning of this year.
Mine is in a similar mess, had to look it all up to see what had changed.
Basically if you passed your test before date X you get certain categories.
After that date your options are considerably more restricted and you even have weight limits for trailers, and cannot drive some classes of vehicle.
Add a car license to the mix as well, and this overlaps into some other categories as well.
It's no longer simple....
I'd certainly ask DVLA for clarification that they have, confirm, and will amend your cat A validity, as this looks like it could be incorrect.
Categories are here if you wish to check.

Would that not then be 13/10/11 for a 2 year restriction?
Edit
Either way it should show as the date you were given the category. Mine is 3 days out from when I passed my test, put that down to slow post when it was sent off.
Recently got a replacement as I lost my old one and all the dates are the same as before
Good maths from me there.....

I had the same worry when I changed my address, fell after the new licencing and I had been unrestricted for about a year, it showed I had a past restriction or something on my counterpart called the DVLA incase they'd given me a new restriction but all turned out fine. Just use the day you passed your test, regardless of the old 33bhp restriction.
Might be worth dropping them a line just to clarify things. I passed my test on 10/10/01 and my license says 10/10/03 as that was when the two years had passed. I always say when asked that I passed my test 10/10/01.
