Hiya guys,

bit of a shameless plug, me and robh539 will be supporting one of our best friends Mark Thompson as he undertakes his first ever season of racing.. He's on a Yamaha R6 Tech3 Replica in the Hottrax Motorsport Series. We've set up a page to document everything from having collected the R6 back at the start of December, this weekend having just had a massive clearout and stripping the bike down, through to Mark doing his ACU licence in February and progress through his first year of racing..

We'll be generating more content as the year goes along, and we're aiming to keep it as interesting as possible - so if you'd be interested to see what goes into progressing from being a trackday addict to taking part in proper racing, click the Like button on the Yorkshire Tyke Racing page here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Yorkshire-Tyke-Racing/1376428755945060

any of you guys on the FireBlade forum 1000rr.co.uk might also already know him, he's on there as Yorkshire Tyke :) cheers guys, PT6

fingers crossed... I've ridden with him twice on the road - on the helmsley tt which I know quite well, a few of my riding mates say I'm quick through there.... Mark makes me look like I'm standing still.

On various trackdays he's been the quickest in fast group despite having been on a gsx-r 750 where others have been on 1000's.. Obviously racing is a whole other kettle of fish, but seeing how he rides currently we're all confident he's going to provide some very entertaining racing.

At the minute everything he's doing is all connected to the upcoming race season - he passed his car driving test in December, next week he's off to look at a van so he can lug his bike and tools to all the race meets, he's ordering all the bits in and tinkering with the bike at every opportunity etc... And on top of it all he's a real likeable character. Plenty of video/pictures/write ups to follow :)

Awesome, sounds like one to watch! The bike looks pretty swish too, Good luck with it all, have you got a YouTube channel or anything for videos?

we're probably going to publish video's to Vimeo and then share them via the Facebook page - already filmed collecting the bike and tinkering in the garage, will probably film his ACU licence day and then cobble it all together with some interview footage to make something kind of watchable hopefully :)

I'd love to follow the Tyke's progress but I do wish you'd publish the goings on using a weblog like Wordpress rather than Facebook. I can't stand Facebook, it could be the worst thing to ever happen on the internet.

Anyhow, however you choose to publish I wish the rider and his supporters loads of luck :)
