my mot is due and having it done tomorrow....

does anyone have experience with them? more specifically.... i have a loudish exhaust, if one were to put the db killer in (which is still quite loud) will they pass it or fail it?

another note... it's an exhaust I took apart, shortened and refitted...

are they anal about loudness there or are they more flexible?

best call them and check to see if they are a bit hard of hearing ... the last dealer I went to was more than happy to take my money and fail my bike and recommend a couple of hundred quids worth of work. I find generally some places are a bit flexible as I have yet to see a decibel measuring type machine.

Stuck the baffle in and it seems to have make it a lot less obscene :)

Will let you folks know when it passes

MOT = Passed
1 Advisory = loud exhaust :)

That's cool. Hold onto that certificate am present it next year to maintain the anniversary.

If it's an advisory and doesn't get any worse (assuming the law doesn't change in the meantime) it can only be an advisory again next year!

I've been running something similar on my car for 4 years now!

My tester consider a loud can an essential safety feature. He is hot on safety and threatens me with an advisory every year as he cannot hear it properly due to the standard can.

At the end of the day, it is subjective, if it is no louder than an equivalent bike with similar exhaust system it is a pass. God forbid that VOSA eventually decides to abide by the C&U regs.

well i thought it was quiet... i stuck the baffle back in...

when it went in for the service the baffle was out... now that was loud (considering its only about 20cm long)

anyway the main thing is it passed :)

thanks for your replys

wish I'd seen this post yesterday when you put it up mate! I know the one of the guys in lloyd coopers quite well and use them quite often for other stuff (cos I live in Watford). I would have recommended you go somewhere else for your MOT (simply cos I go to another place n have a loud exhaust (but I put the baffle in for the MOT) and never have a problem at all). my preference is a little independent place over in Ruislip manor (I think) called the swallow motorcycle company. they've always been really good to me, so I just always go back to them and use them every time now. but as you've got it passed now it doesn't really matter! lol. if you're needing anything else as to something in Watford, as with the parking thing you asked a little while ago, pm me or something. am always happy to try n help if I can.

I don't rate lloyd coopers.
I live in watford and I go to Moores of Apsley for MOT and tyre changes
If I do need any servicing that I can't do myself I go Ford and Ellis in Chesham....

why's that fred?

I know of ford n ellis in Chesham, think I might've been there once too, what are they like? they're specific Suzuki dealer, whereas Lloyd cooper no longer are, they're Kawasaki specific these days. but can still get parts for you from Suzuki. and I can't say I've heard of moores in apsley.

Lloyd coopers are so busy they can't give you any decent customer service. Everything takes so long, they never call you when your parts arrive. They leave your dads rear wheel nut hand tight and nearly kill him hahaha (true story)

Moores of Apsley is a small little yamaha dealers between here and hemel, they do ride in MOTs without a appointment, there always happy to help and if you spring a loose wheel on them for tyre change they can just sqweeze it in and do it while you wait, and cheaper than lloyds.

Ford and ellis.....yeah well they used to have a good mechanic....but the new guy seems good too....you can actually chat to him about the bike, friendly, not so busy. Pauls worked there for ages and always helps you out.... He gave me some fairing fasteners for free once just because he kept some off a old bike because he thought they may come in handy.....and its a nice ride out there :-)

Good reviews, address or website?

Main reason I go to Lloyd's is courtesy bike and I work in Watford so drop off in morning collect on way home...

Prices I find semi reasonable
