GoPro as a stills camera

Just wondering if anyone has bought the lcd screen for the GoPro and used it as a stills camera? I know that battery life might not be great, but can it be done or would a waterproof compact be better?

No good mate. The 'stills' side of the gopro is very disappointing. You'd be much better looking at the Olympus 'tough' range of compact cameras. They're good.
