Anyone on here using an optimate 4 and understands the led light system who can tell me if its normal for the charge led to flash on and off (usually means verifying charge) 6 times then flash all the charge current leds once then repeat the cycle over constantly? It has been running for 8 hours like this now? Ive read the manual back to front and can't find any mention of this and haven't got much hair left to pull out.

Edit: Now flashes 10 times and cycle repeats?

Mine just flashes one led constantly once its settled down i think.

Maybe its charging the battery too?

:notworthy: fanku kind sir. I did have a word with a tech guy who said leave it run for 48 hours and see what happens as it goes to forced charge after 48 hours instead of pulsed, so thats what im doing. Ive just never seen it light up this way so thats why im asking if others have ever seen this. Ta Tom

Oh sorry didn't read your post properly. Yeah mine doesn't normally flash the charge LED. I think the test LED's cycle through once, then it goes to a constant charge.

Yeah thats how i remember it from my last use, just been to check and it now flashes 14 times before it flashes the charge current leds then back to the same?

It's not in canbus mode by accident??

Geodude

I did wonder that but I think mine must be a standard version as there is no mention of canbus either on the box or manual?

Nope just left it run for 48 hours to force it into charge mode. I even rang optimate and spoke to a tech there and he said just to let it run for the full 48hrs and after explaining to him what it was diong over and over he just said let it run? Ive got my second good battery on now and the flashing has increased to 26? So im still confused as to what its doing?

Just an update for anyone else that has this 'problem'. I got in contact with Techmate who passed me on to Probike their UK distributor and they advised me to send them my optimate so they could check it over, which they did for free even though i was 12 months out of warranty and found that my optimates reference circuit was slightly to high (+190mV) and recalibrated it for me. It has been returned all sorted and is working as intended without the mad flashing anymore. :D Nice one Probike cheers.

Brilliant. Glad to hear it.
