Hey all! Just though I'd Start a thread to see where you found your SV's!
Mine is a K4 Naked, in candy grand blue. I found on gumtree, private seller- travelled from Birmingham to Hereford for it (not a massive journey), I'm the 3rd owner & it had just under 5000 miles on the clock when I got it so it was pretty much MINT! Had it a little over a year now & I'm extremely pleased with it :)
I added the seat cowl, belly pan, fly screen & radiator fairings.

Hmm, mine came Ledbury just down the road from Hereford, is someone making them locally like bitcoins or something.

Someone spotted mine for sale at knockhill and told me about it. It was on 2300 miles when I got it from South Queensferry, after paying quite a few deposits because I had trouble getting the money together to buy it. The guy was selling it to buy a boat or jet ski I think. It was mint and completely standard

Mine came from motorcycle universe in Glasgow it turned up on the 4th December. Stayed with me for nearly five years and then went to Avuss in Paisley when my gixer 600 turned and the speeds increased slightly.
I've often wondered where the sv went after Avuss got her.
I found mine in Lings Honda Ipswich. It's a 2008 K7 and had 4000 odd miles on and one owner. It's a local bike but on a Norwich plate. I was going to buy a V Strom but really wanted the SV and it came up at the right moment. That was nearly three years ago and just over 7000 on the clock.

Mav :notworthy: Mine was from a lass on here (beaniebikerbabe) from Bradford via evilbay
Aren't the SVs built in Canada?
Think mine hails from London if I remember the details correctly. Picked it up from a local dealer after my K9 was written off. It's an L0 and had 8k on the clocks. Had it just over 2 years and nearing 23k on the clock

Picked mine up last year from Splash Motorbikes in St. Ives, near Huntingdon. Seemed like a decent place to buy from and the only problems I've had with it so far were from when I dropped it in a car park. When i bought it I pushed it behind a van when I picked it up so if I dropped it, stalled or fell off at least no-one would see it happen.

Bought mine off a hairdresser in Bournemouth, had it three years then sold it to an 75 year old. Basically mine actually was a girls/old mans bike.
Got mine from a private seller who advertised here on the forum.
Only had to travel 40 minutes down the A5.
Had it for 1 1/2 weeks now and it's perfect ;o)

Mine came from Coventry where the original owner had kept it in his garage for nearly 15 years and only managed to get 1600 miles on the clock! :)

Mine came from P&P in Chichester when I traded in the NSR (which had also come from there). 52 plate with about 20k on the clock. It was a long way from home though, the previous owner was from Wales!

mine came from north London somewhere (can't remember exactly where), bought it off a guy who was on here (haven't seen him active for years now though, he'd bought a gixxer). I think he was "sv_alexi" or something like that. had about 26k on the clock on a 52 plate, I'm now proud to say it has over 64k on the very same clock :D and is still running like a train!

Originally sold in Manchester (hunts possibly) in October 2000, ridden for 2984 miles and stored until 2009.
Bought it from Tom Conway motorcycles. The man with Tourettes
Bike has no history, but never seen the MOT station and DVLA confirmed it had registration tax and that's it

Got new from a dealer in Norfolk in 2002 (no, the one in the us).
Two weekends later changed the oil at 600 miles and left on an 1800 mile trip.
No intentions of ever selling it.
Still makes me smile.

For its entire life so far then. :p ;)

I can't remember whether mine was Gumtree or Autotrader, but it was from a chap in Ealing, so just 20 mins on the tube to get there. It was the first one I'd looked at 4 days after taking my test. Y reg with 5000 miles. First owner had chucked it in the garage. I bought it of a little polish guy who had is nephew there to translate. They were kind enough to let me use their internet so I could insure it there and then and ride it away. He had only had it 4 months, I think he was used to smaller bikes and was a little scared of it.
Now pleased to say 16 months later it has 16k on the clock, though it is in need of a little TLC at the moment. Still brings a grin to my face, but recently I have been eyeing up a supersport of some kind.
Bought mine off a little old lady who only used it to the shops and back on a Saturday morning...

Mine was advertised on ebay, starting bid of £550, with FSH, 66,000 miles, 10 months MOT and 6 months Tax.
With a few hours to run, i googled the shop number, rode to John Riley motorcycles, made a cheeky bid of £500 and rode it away, filled it with oil and it's been in daily use since.
One R/R and a few LED bulbs later, i've done nothing other than routine maintenance.

Mine was found under a Gooseberry bush, tucked up in a cradle with a note that read "My name is Sylvie and I need a mummy!" How could I refuse?
The truth is almost as ludicrous. I actually went out to buy a new down hill mountain bike, I was looking at buying a top spec Kona Stinky in a shop on Mutley Plain in Plymouth, but the chap running the store was rude to me because I was a girl wanting a high spec mountain bike. I walked out in disgust and crossed the road with my then boy friend and we went for a look in Dameralls. Sylvie was sat at the back and it was love at first sight. I paid a fifty pound deposit and then went to my bank to take out a vehicle loan. I paid for the bike five days later and as I sat there looking at my new bike, I was asked when I would be picking her up. It was then that I admitted that I did not even have a provisional license and asked how I went about getting one...:D
I had an accident on my DAS and then split up with my boy friend (that was a bad day!), so was all for selling the bike before I had even ridden her. A few weeks later I met the woman who would become my dear wifey and she just happened to be a motorcycle instructor... :makelurve:
So my bike also got me a fabulous Girlfriend, talk about life changing. I was the second owner and she had about 6k on the clock. Six years later I still love my bike and she has just over 20k on the clock now. :D

I was driving back from my hairdresser in Saffron Waldon via Braintree having recently passed my test so I could ride Mr LPH's 200cc Vespa. I passed a Suzuki dealer on the way. Stopped off, sat on an SV, liked it much better than the scooter so handed over the deposit there and then having never even test ridden one.
It was delivered brand new a couple of weeks later with a Scottoiler fitted, a custom seat they had made for me to make it a little lower, crash bungs in case I decided to drop it (I didn't for over 2 years) and a top box for my camera bag.
It's probably the most expensive hairdressing appointment I've ever had.
I'd been on the forum for several years before getting an SV.
My SV came to stay with me after it got written off. Once the paperwork had gone through, the owner (Anna) asked what they wanted if she was to buy it back, so a deal was reached as she didn't really have space for it at the time and I accidently bought an SV for very little money. It's my daily commuter, some parts of it have got over 60,000 miles on it, some haven't, looking through paperwork and having taken it apart a couple of times it's at least 3 motorbikes. Definitely a feisty mongrel rather than a show-winning pedigree.
During a conversation with a friend it became apparent there was an SV which had been taken apart and did we want it for spares? It turned up in the back of a car, on its side with much corrosion, a blown motor, and a box of bits that looked relevant. Buoyed by optimism we decided this looked a bit more complete than we'd first thought, and it became the joint-owned yellow track bike.
Some time later I was on my stag do in Wales and it turned out a friend of a friend had an SV650 in his garden, it didn't work and he was leaving the country. Did we want to pick it up and break it for spares? As luck had it we were in a van with some space, so I came back from my stag do tired, cheery and with an accidental additional bike. This is now the joint-owned red track bike. I have only crashed it twice so far.
I like SV650s

The first from a dealer in Northampton who subsequently went under

The third from a dealer in Letchworth who's hoping I'm not a curse.

Some good stories in here. Mine wasn't that interesting, passed my test and went looking for bikes. Took a CBR600f out for a ride then went to the nearest Suzuki shop. Took one look at my SV and had to buy it.
First one from a dealer in Wimbledon, 2002 curvy.
Second from a forum member, forget the name.
Third almost a year ago from Stenno after he stuck it in a field and bought a V-strom. Now got riserbar conversion, gel seat, full luggage, heated grips and an extra 11,000 miles on it.

I was at my in laws in Stafford. Wife's car was in a garage getting work done and father in law took me to pick up car. As I was driving away he phoned me to say 'john is selling his bike'
No idea who john was so turned around and went back to garage. Bike was hidden in corner .
There and then agreed to buy and a couple of weeks later arranged to have it shipped up to Scotland.
Had it for about 6 years now I think...
my first sv was bought in Wickham Market Suffolk, and was an Ipswich bike, I hadn't ridden for about 6 years. Just decided I wanted another bike. didn't test ride it, and as I was riding away after handing over almost £2K, I thought "what the hell am I doing?"
2 mins later, huge grin.
Bought my pointy via ebay auction win in Nov `12, it had loads of crap aftermarket bling, and a different colour headlight fairing, which I think put people off as it didn't fetch a lot.
Sold the bits I didn't like, left on others I don't care about. Gets treated to mechanical work as required, but looks a bit scruffy. (although now all 1 colour) Its got about 22K on it, but no plans to sell it as its a work hack.
