View Full Version : First monthly Run?

Been thinking due to boredom (Danger Will Robinson DANGER) about when we should have our first run of the year and where we should go.

Do we have an ice cream run to Largs? Do we just have a nice bimble out? Or do I give trying to organise monthly runs a miss and let someone else organise something.

If you have been doing good runs out then keep it up. Unless of course your sick of it? But the people will appreciate the organised runs out no doubt and you can be happy about that :)

I'd say make the first a good un with fish and chips followed by ice cream ;) not that il be there but still :p

Chucca knows we all love him and his runs, he just needs a wee hug and a pat on the head occasionally. So you carry on buddy, just make more of them runs doon sooth so I can join in. D&G, Borders are rather lovely you know. wee run down to the mull of galloway, most southernly point?

Like Mr Bond - Nobody does it better, makes you feel sorry for the rest.

I can rarely make a Sunday run, but I quite often do some of the planned routes you post on my own on a Saturday.

So at least keep planning them :)

To be fair until summer I struggle to make a Sunday due to playing football so if a Saturday run could happen that would be cool!

Just remembered I need to rebuild my bike first, balls...

I voted for the ice cream run at end of March :-)

Probably won't have a bike but I might steal one of my brothers to do it. Been itching to get back on two wheels.

Sold most of the GSXR bits so I have a nice tidy deposit to put towards my next bike.

So defo keep them organised runs coming Dean as we do appreciate the time and effort that goes into planning them :-)

I'm happy to make some of the runs a Saturday, I have no commitments to either Saturday or Sunday.

It's the routes that I find get more and more difficult, I know the roads I like and tend to pick them instead of trying something different. Its nice to ride something new once in a while.

I would be happy to take the buck one month, will organise a wee run roon D&G, stay away from Borders till after AR tho' Was thinking we never did the SW corner, crackin wee roads around whithorn. Ice cream in portpatrick is Ok. Even go see the lighthouse on the end.

Nice, we can have a play on the Electric Brae.

I'm up for runs I can do up, round and back in a day.
Keep up the good work Dean we all enjoy the fruits of your work.

Done the Ayr to Portpatrick run many a time but always happy to do it again, love it. Haven't went right down to the lighthouse so that would be good also...

Maybe even make it for a stop at the waterfall at Glentrool if I don't need to rush off this time!

Sorry bud its not done on purpose.

I gotta admit that I'm struggling to find the enthusiasm to do a route for this. We could be boring and just do the normal Rest and Be Thankful/ferry route.

Right where do you guys think would be best to start this run. I'd normally have picked Gericke but that's not possible. Its it wrong to use the road outside Victor Devines or would we be better to use the petrol station on Great Western Road?

The As Soon As I Can Be Bothered moment has come.

I have a couple of ideas (more than enough for me)

A - http://goo.gl/maps/gJaA7 its a little different to normal and some of the roads are V narrow but it gives some amazing views

B - http://goo.gl/maps/efYLT the normal route we take for this.

I'm guessing it could be a case of see what's happening on the day, First stop will probably be at the Pit Stop in Arrochar.

If Ecosse was a democracy, this would get my vote. The simple fact of the matter is we don't get to Tighnabruaich often enough. Or indeed ever!

Proper all day route mind you, so sucking and seeing might very well be the thing.

Bike is overdue a service, but a few extra miles won't do too much harm, right kids?!;)

Has a decision been made about the route yet? With a bit of luck this week's weather will continue.

I reckon I'll come on this - would be rude not to as it's pretty much in my back garden. It'd be my first ride-out though. I'm not exactly a fast rider though and don't want to hold anyone back...

You'll be fine. You wont hold anyone back. You'll just not see them again lol.

Nahh just ride at your own pace and there will be plenty of stops etc and someone up front will always stop and mark any turnings etc.

Aw, that's a wee shame, I can't make it either (Mother-in-law/Mothers Day duties!)
Was over the Rest and be Thankful last week-end (rally at Loch Lomond) and it was open with just a wee set of traffic lights near the top - didn't have to wait too long and although I went a different route after that (not to Dunoon, I went Inveraray/Dalmally/Tyndrum) it was freakin' freezin'. Some parts had snow down to the roadside edge. The bike park at the Green Welly had snowed scraped to the kerb. Wrap up warm kids!

I might even come along a ride sometime with the orgers then, if that's ok? Always been worried I'd hold folk back. But speed limits and making progress I can do!

Well I fair enjoyed that :)

Started with Five and finished with Five, although not the same five.

Thanks for coming out and I'll try to find some enthusiasm to get another run organised for the middle to end of May. Probably going to make it up to Kinlochleven as I'd like to see Helen and Mark before we all land on their doorstep for the GM.
