Just cos it's not a named brand don't mean that it's particularly bad or good.
Google it

If you want a carbon lid there are HJC FG-10 (i think) carbon on ebay from a reputable seller for £180, it's quite a bit more expensive but personally I really like HJC and I've recently bought a HJC IS-16 for £65! (Brand new obviously), an upgrade from an aged HJC CS-14 which I loved

I've heard of Duchini before and they seem quite affordable but I couldn't tell you anything about their quality or comfort :S I'd always try a helmet on before buying one, I was disappointed by hloves that I bought online without being able to try any on so I'd be even more cautious about helmets... But that's just me :P

Didn't/doesn't Lozzo's shop sell these? If I remember it ended up with a bit of a stramash when someone slagged them and he put them in their place

Follow the link in post No 4. ;)
Oh and just because something is cheap it doesn't always follow it's junk.
I bought a KBC lid for my work run as I wanted a hi vis for commuting.
It's very comfortable, quite enough and a great fit. Double D chin strap ACU gold.
£70

If you are looking for a pretty decent cheap lid, then crack on. They have recently revamped the entire range of shells, as the old ones were approx 7 years old in design. They have some nice looking new shells, and if that is how much you can afford at the time, then go for it!

Dunno about the helmets but I have a pair of their summer gloves which have been in use pretty much daily for the last year or so except when the weather is too cold for them. Well made, comfortable once broken in - all in all a good product. If the helmets are made with the same degree of quality consideration then they should be pretty damned good.

CharleyFarley you may like to look at the following link:

http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/testhelmetlist?sharp-make=107&sharp-model=&sharp-type=All&sharp-rating=4&discontinued=1

These are the 4 star rating Duchni helmets. 4 stars are what my Shark helmet has. Click on the links to get more detailed test results. A shark technical bod said that the most importance is the fit, and assuming that it meets the required specification then all the rest is added value in comfort, lightness, extra features, etc.

I had a Duchinni once, before aforementioned shell upgrades. It was cheap, and it felt cheap. It was loud, uncomfortable and the visor was thinner than cling film. But it was cheap and fitted well and had a reasonable sharp rating.

When I started learning 3 yrs ago, I wasn't sure, at age 62, that biking was for me so I went for a cheap helmet, a Duchinni D701 for £55. It's still my helmet and I commute by bike most days. The only fault is that the moveable plastic air vent at the front came off its clips and so is now unusable. Apart from that, I have had no problems.

I saw these (well the brand) at the NEC several years ago, they were a bit like the BOX helemts are now, cheap, jazzy colours, my sister-in-law got one as did my son; about £40 or something like that, they were the "budget" helmet of choice at the time, obviously times have moved on, they have upped their game and now make a better produce, they do the job and of course meet the minimum approval standard (given the fact they have no side "pods" I'll bet they even have a high SHARP score).

Personally I know what is the best from both a protection and durability perspective and think the base models of the Arai range are worth the extra, but it's your head, you decide what it's worth to you :smt102

After posting my last comment, I dropped the helmet and smashed the visor. As it was nearly 4 years old, I bought a replacement. As I wear glasses I went for a flip front design, a CAN VCAN210. A vast improvement over the Duchinni and cost just £85.00

Doesn't say much for the quality if the visor. Were there shards of plastic that would have gone in your eyes in a crash?

Might be uv hardening of the visor plastic.
Visors and goggles
If you ride with a visor or goggles they must either:

meet a British Standard and display a BSI Kitemark
meet a European standard offering at least the same safety and protection as the British Standard and carry a mark equivalent to the BSI Kitemark (UNECE Regulation 22.05)"

I had a Duchinni lid a few years ago, can't recall the model but it was a fairly cheap and loud helmet. That being said I was wearing it when wrote off my GPZ750R, a mini pulled out in front of me in the middle of Thetford, I grabbed a fist full of front brake, front wheel locked and the bike instantly dropped on it's right hand side sending me rolling into the thankfully stationary traffic on the opposite side of the road. My head hit the front bumper of an Escort then went underneath hitting the tarmac with some force then I hit the tyre with my face (unsure if impact was on the chin guard or visor) sending me spinning a few feet down the road. I stood up feeling angry and embarrassed removed my helmet to find the visor gone and chin guard split straight down the middle as well as various scuffs and scars. But it did do it's job.

I had balanced it on the bike seat and the wind blew it off. It landed visor down and split into 2 parts. The visor was a replacement and only a year old.

The bike in the aforementioned 80s cheese-fest, (AKA Top Gun), was a 900, not a namby-pamby 750.

Apart from the cc the 9 and the 7 1/2 were the same.
My friend had a green 7 1/2 and it was only the sticker that gave it away.
