so my helmet is stuck under the rear seat due to the mechanism being crap and not working. this happened to anyone else?
what is the easiest way to fix it bearing in mind the seat is stuck so striping the bike is going to be hard

If it's a pointy SV you might be able to push the front of the seat down where the locking mechanism is, twist the key, lift the seat off and release the key. If there is an upwards pressure it can cause the mechanism to be hard to move.
remove the front seat, and get to the mechanism that way to release it.

I have tried for ages to release the seat by pressing etc 1 hour in a car park in Kingston. And 30 minutes in the shed. There no way to release the seat as the seat cowls bolts are under the seat. The rear seat still stuck on. But I now have my helmet and the mechanism wire has come off due to whacking the seat with a hammer. So hopefully in a few hours time the problem will be solved
if you have an alan key to remove the cowl, you'll have one to remove the rider seat?!

To anyone who might come across same problem. Two solutions:
- don't lock helmet in bike when you know lock is dodgy
- to gain access to lock. bend seat on one side and undo bolt with 10mm spanner then do this on other side. This will release the seat from lock.
Problem sorted. Nothing broken
