Hi all,
So after BMW storing my bike outside for 2mths instead of storing it inside as promised, all my bolts and header pipes are rusty, my question is sto de-rust the bolts and headers should I use? and which would be more effective?-
1) optiglanz
2) Hammerite Rust Remover
3) elbow grease and sand paper
Cheers
Can't you complain and get bmw to replace them?

Tried, they're not interested, first and last BMW.
Wow that sucks!
I've used optiglanz on my downpipes and it worked well. Maybe give the bolts a bath?
Do you have anything in writing staing this would be kept inside?? If so tell them you will take it further with county court action to recover costs of everything you have to get replaced (get quotes) plus compensation. If someone says stored inside then I expect it to be stored inside.

Unless BMW state somewhere that the metal they use on their bikes doesn't rust, I'd be surprised if you got anything replaced.

Replace them with stainless steel, its not that expensive.

If hardware rusts, it's because whatever plating was used to prevent rusting is no longer intact. Cleaning off the rust will be a very temporary thing, unless you plan to have them re-plated.
