So over the last 2 weeks, my SV likes to "pretend" it goes into 2nd when I shift up, and as I've just bliped the throttle for the shift, I noticed how I just move through the entire rev range. What happen is that the bike went into neutral instead of 2nd. However, the bike must think it is in some gear as the neutral light does not come on (it works normally, when I on purpose put it into neutral).

This doesn't happen every time, but quite often from 1st to 2nd. especially if I'm accelerating a bit quicker than usual.

Of course once this has happen I can hit the gearshifter again and it will go into gear. Thought I think it might actually sometimes skip second and hit 3rd. What can be the problem?

In no particular order----
Check oil level
chain/sprocket adjustment,wear
clutch adjustment(properly at the worm drive).Does the clutch drag?
lube the pivot where the gear lever sits around the footrest

One of those usually sorts it out.
